Are my seedlings ruined??

Help! I am a first time grower and I have had my seedlings growing (or whatever you call this) for 72 hours now. They have not sprouted leaves, but this morning when I watered them the water rushed out too fast and completely moved my seedlings root and all. I replanted them, but are they ruined? The roots have definitely grown since I planted them but I am worried. They should have at least grown out of the soil a little by now right? and the root is white and up where it is attached to the seed it is a little purplish...Is there hope for me?!

ya their fine! just keep the root pointed down into the soil, cover it up, and let it be. sometimes it takes awhile to break the surface.

And don't rush the watering. I always just mist the top of the soil thoroughly then put something clear over the top, the extra humidity helps in the early stages

or if you using a small cup of pot, just set it in another cup of water and let it soak it up through the bottom...that way nothing moves around except the water through the soil.

cool! thanx for the info...they still have broken through yet...im starting to get discouraged...I've seen a lot of vids where leaves sprouted after 20 to 24 hours...

from the time the taproot forms out of the seed shell to the time it is open all the way and green can take up to a week, depending on temperature and humidity. Only water by misting, if you dont have a nursery tray and dome get a gallon bag and mist the inside then place it over your seedling, make sure the temp is between 80-90F for the best results. If its too cold and humidity too low it will take alot longer to sprout. You can get a cheap reptile heating mat at the petstore for about $15 to warm them up a bit too.

Oh wow, i've heard the total opposite..."humidity and heat over 75 degrees is bad"...but i'll take your word because that hasn't yielded any results!!
