I have 3 HLG QBs so this wouldn’t be too expensive to throw together. Any thoughts? 
Are my proportions correct? Not sure how much headspace a clone takes

If you flip them small and train them well you should be fine

I once had a similar setup in a closet for clones...multi levels.
I found watering in a short height clearance to be a problem.
2 solutions I found that helped was using hose with a metal tube long enough to reach to the back wall of the clones or to install the clones on a tray that can slide out of the 'box' like a drawer...then slide it back in when done watering or whatever.
I also used gravity to my advantage...sit the jug of water on top of the 'box' and with a hose + metal tube you can water easily and just kink the hose between watering each clone to not make a mess of water going everywhere.

Awesome ideas man! I thought about the tray that can slide out also, I really like the way that sounds. I’ve just been in the mood to build something lately and doing something like that would really satisfy my craving. And about the gravity thing, I wondered if I could rig up a reservoir on top and run a line down to water with, but at 8 pounds a gallon it would have to have a large footprint and not very much height.I once had a similar setup in a closet for clones...multi levels.

I found 1 gal/4 L jugs works well if doing a dozen or so clones...easy to carry and keep constant.
A res on top would be fine, but your still lugging water to fill it by gallon(s) or a hose.
I did about 200 clones at once so in the end I was using the big water bottles from the water coolers...put it on a 5' high shelf...that last 2 days for ~200 clones.
I'm a builder kinda person too...heres an old pic of my creation...4 boxes in 1...each is 2' x 4' @ 40" in height...minus 6" for tote and minus 3-12" for lights gives me 22-31" for plants to grow...I scrog them or learning to scrog them...lol

I didnt do SOG with the clones...they got sold off to people in my area that had outdoor grows they wanted to start.
I now do SCROG due to limited space in my big grow box.
I get 2-4 oz per plant every 35 days...depending on strains and how well they grow...still learning.
