Are digital "microscopes" any good?

I have a jewelers loupe and it works ... just hurts my god damn eyes focusing it. I think this would be better. I have a big ass computer screen i'd be hooking it up to... or my phone. Anyone use anything like this? If this one is garbage any idea what isn't? Sick of buying junk.


I want to be able to see the trichomes easily without squinting. I don't mind spending a bit more if i had to.

Be sure it goes low enough as we only need 50x to see the trichomes. I've one of the cheapest ones and it is a real pain to get it focused without a fine control wheel. Either buy a stand or spend a few bucks more for one with ab adjustable wheel stand. Once you get it set it works well enough after you take the lens cap off.

i have a digital scope like that, it is kind of hard to get it in focus. Helps to have someone holding your phone while you use the scope.
Otherwise i take a small cut off a nug and then scope it on the table

Last year i just went with a macro lens for my phone. Obviously the quality of your phone will affect the quality of picture you can get.
This is much easier for me and i can see it well enough when i zoom in. Also easier to tell if you are looking at a calyx or sugar leaf. Plus i dont have to actually touch the nug to get a shot.

This is the one I use. It's supposed to give the THC % within +- 3%. It works fairly well. When the lens gets dirty it's hard to clean but I like it. Also keeps a record and an album.
