Are Calyxes Supposed to Swell?

So two grows ago i grew some utopia haze from barney's, and i swear they were the biggest calyxes ive ever had. for a 150w hps light they were almost the size of young peas. I wrote down everything in a grow journal too. i bought the strain again, but changed a lot of things - 400w hps, smaller pots for a perpetual setting (instead of 5g buckets), coco instead of soil, a 4-ft plant to 1.5-ft. i just harvested some of the new girl and she just isnt getting as chubby as the first! should i try waiting longer? i mean i thought these were the same strains. i guess my real question is do all marijuana plants get HUGE calyxes eventually like my first one? i would really like to know if im too trigger happy with my harvests lol but when the trichs turn 25% amber i flush and get ready to chop it.

Perhaps you got a different phenotype the next batch of seeds hence your buds look different, I posted a similar question here with pics, same strain different kinds of buds. Perhaps you got a sativa dominant pheno with the 11 week flowering time. Another thing is how long has it been since you began flowering them? Hazes usually take longer than usual so your unless they are 9-10+ weeks your definitely a little trigger happy. I think I read that if Utopia haze flowers in 70-80 days.
