Hello everyone! :) This will be my first official post on Rollitup and its an honor. But to kick off my introduction I just wanted to ask a few questions in relation to this thread ( https://www.rollitup.org/newbie-central/3805-lighting-electric-bill-cops.html ) I plan on having a setup in my 3 bedroom 2 floor apt and its pretty big, but I noticed alot of you guys focused on the word "home" or "house" and I dont have a house, nor do i know if im on a electric grid or exactly how large my apt is and I was wondering if it really matters out here in the boonies... my ideal set up would be a 15-20 plant set up w/ hydro, and 800watts or more. If you guys could put some input that would be great!!!!! Thanks for taking a look. -Farmgrow

mane i would say dont do it on the second floor,if your room is on the first floor SWITCH because u never want a police helicopter to fly over and see your
roof glowing because of the powerful lights

I was just wondering what do you think the odds are of getting caught, or how much juice do you would set off alarms for a 3 bedroom apt, I just dont want the meter guy showing up with the cops as suggested in the post I provided, it would be 800 watts for my lights plus im living with 2 others but I would try to save power, I'm just trying to think whether to set up or not, because this would be my first be hydro/ big watt set up, I jsut want to be safe as possible, if its anything my oil is heat and I ahve a fire place which would help the bill, I'm just reaching out to other APT growers is all...add anything I'd love to hear your thoughts! thanks for the welcome! -Farmgrow

Well if it helps you, my wife and I left our space heaters running too much this past December, and we doubled our electric bill from 150ish to 320. I payed the bill on time, and I otherwise never heard a peep from the electric company or the 5.0.

Odd of you getting caught/busted? There's WAY to many variables....in the end it all comes down to how well you keep your mouth shut about what you're doing. The fact that you're going to have 2 roommates.....to me thats a liability right there. Then theres the fact of the odor the plants make, close proximity to other apartment tennants, etc etc.

Thanks for your input pokes i really appreciate it. As for my roommates they're in it with me and are like my right hand, I would of course use a big turbo fan with a carbon filter, all of which I have built before/ worked with a 400 watt set up of my other buds, so I have experience there for the smell, I would be using a draft block and the floors and ceiling would be covered with painters plastic which would help block all the little cracks, which they're isn't really any. I just want to make sure to keep the 5.0 away. But I am in a place where there is big winters I just dont want them to ctch on to light cycles, Ive been thinking of using a small generator to reduce the bill or creating an amplifier somehow rigged to the lights to it converts the power to bigger power without the 5.0 catching on, does anyone have any experiences with these items or have thought similar ideas? Of course all thoughts are welcome...let me know what you guys think! -Farmgrow

for 15 plants, two 400w would do it.

but for 20+, i think two 600w would give you more bang for your buck.

double the penetration power of a 400w and good coverage, while remaining relatively cheaper on consumption.

two 400w HID probably run the bill up an extra 15-20$ depending on where you live. i have one 400w running and the bill hasnt budged.

thanks for the thread, it was very useful. I was having concerns with my setup. I have a two bedroom setup (I stay alone) with a 400 watt ups running 12/12 with two 120v fans that run 24/7. I also have clones under 80watts fluorescents.

I am not sure what you meant by "amplifier", but you will pay the same no matter what for example 800W of electricity. Watts is Watts is Watts....
