Aphids!

So I walked into a catastrophe this morning. My girl has aphids, I treated it with vinegar-water-and dish soap mix. My worry is if the vinegar will affect the plant. She’s very late in flower now and I don’t wanna ruin her.

Vinegar = acetic acid will screw ur Ph for sure

better to take outside and blast with a garden hose I

have wrapped the pot in a trash bag to prevent overwater

should your weed taste soapy - you know why

good luck

I will rinse thoroughly in a couple hours. No worries from the soap, I am very concerned about the acidity and ph.

got em once from bring autos outside during the day and back inside at night to keep running lights on them 24/7. huuuge colas lol. but i hid them near my kale and broccoli and ended up getting aphids which in turn brought disease and powdery mildew into my grow area too. i basically blasted as many as i could off with water but the females lay alot of eggs per day so those dicks just keep on commin back. harvested early tore down everything and cleaned top to bottom and uv/ozoned the whole basement. they suck. and they leave their sticky shit all over your buds and leaves. if its real bad you WILL find them on the insides of your buds. bastards.

So seeing as my girl is very late in flower and I am not patient when it comes to things I can make attempts at. Lol. I have done a few things... I cut a few branches from the affected area. I treated one with straight alcohol n ya it messed up the tricomes but it killed em on contact. (Definitely not doin it to her though) it’s just too harsh. Works great on veg plants I bet. I would be careful not to let em get too hot or close to the light while wet with alcohol though. And it dissipates quick, rinses with water after for the scent. I also did a small test to see if it would affect them to pour it in the soil to kill the eggs of anything that’s there. N it had no affect on the plant, test plant was a small clone in its first pot, wanted to test it on something I know is not as hardy as a three foot plant (Recommended if in veg) I also checked the area I sprayed with vinegar n water n soap mix, it shows signs of stress, and being as it’s after a single night, I will never use it again. I removed a lot of them to the point where I have to really search to see any. And I’m cranking the heat up for the next three days. I don’t want to guys )-: but I know they die at 90f so I’m gonna turn the fan up n the heat n water with slightly cooler water (48-50). I don’t plan to smoke the affected stuff, but it’s literally one corner of the area. I caught it very early (no damage had shown) saw a few spot of their nasty goo on a leaf n started looking. Haven’t seen any with wings so I know it’s not bad yet. I’m gonna just keep fightin n feedin.... one week away from no more food. I am not gonna cut her early! I refuse. She’s too close! If it starts to get real bad I will prune every inch of her that shows sign of them. But I am not culling her! Her room is sealed and there are no signs on anything else. Once she finishes I will bag the limbs as I cut them and remove her to my garage to dry. It’s all I have and it seems just like mites... if your in veg you can beat em, if your in flower you will need to manage to keep them down or be prepared to cut off or down the affected area or plant. I haven’t been able to find anything that is safe for flowers and trichomes and will allow you to rinse away thoroughly. So I will Finnish her and go nuclear on every surface and all veg before I start a new run in that room. Thankfully I was thinking about pest control coming up soon and had a few things already. Have hung stickies and will be getting yellow stickies today. And all the other stuff I’ve used was already on hand. Just putting this in here to give all info I have.

So it won’t harm my plant n it will wash off? Sorry to be so sketchy... just don’t wanna kill my poor lol baby or hurt how she comes out. Like no light burn issues? Or will I need to dim the lights after application?

Ok... so I went ahead and turned the heat up to 91-95 n my humidity was above 60. Been going for about 3-4 hrs. Just went n searched n found a few stragglers.... and they are dead! Yay.... I think the 90s did the job. Checked my trichomes n they are still fat and tall with bulbs at the tip (no noticeable damage) here’s to hoping it’s enough to finish. Will be treating the pot with alcohol n then flush/feed 3 mins after.

Try cold pressed neem oil solution for a soil drench. Obviously don't mist spray the plant if your in flower. But a neem oil drench in the soil will kill off the larvae, resulting in no more adult flies buzzing around. If that's not an option, then do a hydrogen peroxide 1 part to 4 part water. Do a light drench or heavy spray on the soil and that will kill larvae also. I've done both wi success. bongsmilie

just did a straight 70% alcohol heavy spray on the soil. Will be repeating for the next few days just to be sure. If you read above I tested how it will affect a very young clone to have a ton of alcohol poured directly in it. It has had zero affect on the clone. And has been over 24 hrs. I’ll keep updating this to give my results. And thank you for the peroxide info. I didn’t have it before now. I will probably try it if I have bad results with my current actions.

Just took nine gallons to get her to give some run off... pretty sure the alcohol is cleared out as well. Did another search... found three young n one adult. All dead, hoping the trend continues. So... as far as I can tell. High temps do more for killing aphids than anything else I’ve seen or tried. (As far as while in flower). No this will not work on mites! They love the heat. If not in flower I would definitely mist with alcohol to eradicate any unwanted pests. (For indoor grows mainly) outside you would kill the helpful bugs as well. I saw someone in a thread saying the outdoor grow is sealed (it would work for them too) DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT IN ANY WAY SPRAY A PLANT IN LATE FLOWER FOR APHIDS. Raise the temp for a few hours (above 90f) I did three and a half hours, repeat for a few days. Check your trichomes after every cycle! Don’t blame me if you forget and burn them up!! This is working for me. Maybe not you. I have spent the entire day monitoring it very closely. And will do so till I know for certain I won!
