all you really need is a 400 watt hps (or bigger, 600-1000) and a seed. It does depend if you are worried about the smell, then you would need more. IF your grow area is small it will get hot so you will need extraction fans.

Id say 1000 if you plan well and budget shop to start a legit op.
Yes I quit my job.

Hmm he doesn't need nutes, medium, growing equipment ( bucket/pot), circulation fans or anything huh. I think your gonna be smoking air if you follow that advice ;)
I hope it wasn't a good job :-D

It all depends indoor or out?

Don't quit your day job. Most new business ventures fail within the first year. Of those that make it, most fail within the next five years.

If things go sour with the grow, you'll need the stable income of a job to buy the things you'll need to fix the grow.

I wouldn't consider relying on growing weed for money unless I had at least a year or two of experience, and a handful of successful harvests fully distributed.

I would say keep your job at least untill you have a stable flow of profit from the plants coming in. It takes a while to get good at this and to have a set up where your taking plants at least once a month.

I was just thinking the spendy stuff. nutes are about 20, soil 20, and pot a few bucks. A fan or two would be nice but not necessary if its a big open space

Exactly, yu hit the nail on the head.....ive seen some other posters talk about using just a 400 wat light, no fans etc.

Lemme tell you this, 1 single 400 watt light is not gonna give you much of an income at all. If youre thinking of going commercial grab a 600 watt light, fans, nutes do some research and get through 2 harvests. Then if things are going well expand your grow and then you can think of a career.

If so, how much start up did you need to get started and how many plants do you grow?
my job was getting in the way of my growing and paid less than i made in high school.

it was a tough decision to quit, so i flipped a coin. you don't need to see how the coin lands. when that coin is in the air, shit gets real clear, real quick.

had a rough time where the phone didn't ring for a while, as i had shooed everyone away months ago when i got the job. once the phone started ringing, no looking back.

lol you need about 100k to start up to do it for a living
most guys i know growing for a living are doing it in 30x60 + areas, with 20,000w+ of lights and around 18,000cfm of airflow...
not to mention, when you grow 100lbs... you think its safe to sell that amount?

its just not an area of feasible employment without some really crooked friends...

i can honestly attest that you have no idea what you are talking about. no offense, but your statement is simply not true.

the only time to quit your job to grow, is when its a full time job growing...
as for your opinion i honestly dont care what you think... have you ever seen 100+ lbs packaged and ready for delivery to another country?
theres only a few places in the world with that kind of volume in trafficking in single sales.

$20 bucks in Nutes $20 in dirt, shit you will be growing pounds for under $100. get your next pay check than quit.

lol my Nutes were over $200 , and my dirt mix is close to $200. And I anit doing anything big..

$300 for a HID light, reflector,balast, bulbs,
you need timers, power strips, light hangers, ph up and down, thomometers, 30x microscope, good ventalation,

If you want to do it as a Job, i would say get a 24x24 garage, with 4 1000 watters on light movers.

I just invested about 2.5k into my equipment. I can make about 1-2k mth on that. That for sure will not pay the bills, health insurance, etc. You need a decent op to go full time to bring in enough cash. Depends on your living habits too. Personally I like being comfortable and this should help pay some bills and maybe get some fun toys in the process..And keep working full time.

what a fool i was to quit my job to grow full time without investing $100,000. surely i am screwed.

one would have to be CRAZY not to run 20k watts worth of light and grow 100 pounds, as we all know pounds of weed sell for $12.99.

there is no way my 2500 watts and pc fans could ever produce enough for me to be self sufficient. ignore me, i am just a figment of your imagination.
