The part where he bakes the weed, Decarb at 240 degrees for between 60-90 minutes for a perfect result and then make your tincture. His temp is a little too high and the time to short.

Agreed Harry, when I decarboxylate my oil I do 170 Fahrenheit (as low as my oven goes) for 2 hours.

The hardest part about making canna-chocolates is actually making the chocolates. Chocolate is a complex candy, with many different types of crystalline structures. Ideally, you want to make beta-crystals because of their high melting temperature. This is done by cooling the chocolate between 89 and 91 degrees Fahrenheit, but hard to do because of how specific it is... Luckily since we're not professional chocolate makers, we don't have to care so much =D

Coconut oil is used as the carrier for THC. I usually mix 4 grams of decarboxylated, evaporated alcohol extract into 414 mL of coconut oil. To do this you must heat the coconut oil into a liquid (around 110 Fahrenheit works great), drop the extract into the liquid oil and mix it around until it has dissolved. This will take about 30 minutes.

The recipe I use is 1 cup (235mL) cocoa powder, 1/2 cup (120 mL) coconut oil, 1/4 cup (60mL) honey, 1/2 teaspoon (2.5mL) vanilla extract. You start by heating your coconut oil into a warm liquid (around 110-120 Fahrenheit). Once at the desired temperature, place your 1/2 cup (120mL) coconut oil into a small mixing bowl. Next you add 1/4 cup (60mL) honey to the warm liquid coconut oil, whisking it around until the honey has fully dissolved into the coconut oil. Now mix in your 1 cup (235mL) cocoa powder, whisking it into the warm honey-coconut oil. Finally add 1/2 teaspoon (2.5mL) vanilla extract into the chocolate-honey-coconut oil, whisk thoroughly until it is one consistency, there should be no clumps of cocoa powder. After you've mixed all 4 ingredients together, pour the liquid chocolate mix into whatever mold you want, and place it in the fridge.

Let me be clear, this recipe will make a form of chocolate. However it must be kept cold (50-60 degrees Fahrenheit) or it will melt into a puddle. This is because there are no beta-crystals because of the cooling process that I use. I'm not sure coconut oil based recipes can even form beta-crystals, never tried, kinda too lazy. However it does yield very potent, tasty chocolates that are easy to make, just not easy to transport long distances without a cooler.

As for making the oil itself, this is also a complicated process where temperature is very important.

I would only use food grade alcohol for this process. I understand that Everclear 190 Proof (my preference) is much more expensive than rubbing alcohol, but rubbing alcohol is not always pure. Some rubbing alcohols contain acetates that will not evaporate with the alcohol, meaning it's stuck in your extract =( Acetates are poison =( Also, whenever I say everclear in this thread, I mean FOOD GRADE ALCOHOL. It can be made from potatos or grains, I'm sure the source doesn't matter much. Everclear might not be available in your region, if it's not, look for anything 95% alc (190 proof) or higher for this project. It must be intended for human consumption, or it's likely not pure.

I learned a lot about making alcohol extracts from ({[ WARNING OUTSIDE LINK]}) --> https://www.treatingyourself.org/archive/index.php/t-44323.html

This is an excellent thread ^^

Things you'll need... 2 Large glass jars, 1 medium glass jar, 1 tempered glass baking pan, #4 coffee filter ( I use unbleached, not sure if it matters).

INGREDIENTS: 1 ounce high quality trim(back right), 1.25 cups of Everclear.(far right)

Step one. FREEZE EVERYTHING (except the glass baking pan). 1 ounce in a large jar, 1.25 cups everclear in medium jar, coffee filter around the top of the other large jar. Temperature is important, the hotter your temperature becomes, the more chlorophyll you will get in your extract, so let everything chill for at least 4 hours on the coldest setting your freezer goes to.

Step 2. When you are ready, quickly dump 1.25 cups of everclear into the jar containing 1 ounce of trim. Close the large jar and shake your everclear and trim mixture for 1-2 minutes. You will start to see your everclear turn gold/bright green. Bright green is okay, dark green is fine, you can still smoke it, it will just have a worse flavor.

Step 3. Dump the everclear and trim mixture carefully into the jar with the coffee filter over the mouth. This filter will be just barely big enough to fit all your trim in it. You will see your golden/bright green everclear mixture draining through the coffee filter into the bottom of the jar. Place the lid on top of the jar and allow the everclear to drain from the trim for 10 minutes.

Step 3b.At this point, you can remove the jar from the freezer and dump some additional alcohol over the trim, this will drain some of the good extract stuck in the coffee filter into the bottom of the jar. This increases your yield by about 20% but costs some extra alcohol, worth the exchange for me =)

Step 4. After your everclear stops dripping from the coffee filter, you are now ready to evaporate the alcohol from the mixture. Remove the coffee filter and dump the green alcohol into the pan,I float my tempered glass baking pan in some warm water, at about 120 degrees Fahrenheit and slowly evaporate the alcohol. This takes 2-3 hours. Good ventilation is ideal, these fumes can harm your brain.

If you have any questions, don't be shy to ask, I can take more pictures next time I make some. =) Have a nice day

Definitely coming back to this thread.

My addition though, would be to google up some videos of Alton Brown's "Art of Darkness" videos. He has three and they are amazing Chocolate 101 info.
