Anyone know how to set up a universal remote.

Simply put. I am a typcal man and threw out my manual. I cannot find anything online and this is my last resort before i smash up the fucking thing.
My remote is here: Total Control 4-in-1 Universal Remote Control URC2440

And my tv is a Matsui. So if any of you guys out there are any good at this stuff ill +rep you for a week!!!

your best bet is to buy a new remote this time be smart read the instructions. you might try going to the maufactures web site for programing instructions.

I just had that happen to me. I pushed the tv button and then the power button. I repeated this until the tv came on and it worked. Don't know if it will work with yours, but, it is worth the try.

ive actually tried this for ages. no luck. will try again now just in case. cheers.

The Search Method
If your device does not respond to the TOTAL CONTROL after you
have tried all the codes listed for your brand, try the Search Method.
The Search Method may also work if your brand is not listed at all.
Example: to search for your Television Code:

Switch your Television on (not on standby).

Press the TV key on your TOTAL CONTROL.

Aim the TOTAL CONTROL at your Television. Press and
hold down the SET key until the red light on the TOTAL
CONTROL blinks twice.

Press 9 9 1, the red light will blink twice.

Now alternate between the TV and POWER key,
over and over, until your Television turns off.
You may have to press these keys many times
(up to 150 times) so please be patient. Remember to
keep pointing the TOTAL CONTROL at your Television
when pressing these keys.

When your Television switches off, press the SET key to store
the Code. Now, your TOTAL CONTROL should be ready to
control your television.
- If you cannot control your Television properly, please continue the
Search Method, you may be using the wrong Code.
- To search for your other devices, follow the same instructions above,
only press the appropriate device key during step 2 and 5.
- If your Video’s original remote control does not have a POWER key,
press PLAY instead of POWER when searching for your Code during
step 5.

Setting up your devices
Example: to set up the TOTAL CONTROL for your Television:

Find your device code in the code section (page 12 – 25).
Codes are listed by brand name. The most popular
code is listed first. Make sure your television is switched on
(not on standby).

Press and release the TV key on your TOTAL CONTROL.

Press and hold down the SET key until the red light blinks
twice (the red light will blink once and then twice).

Enter your four-digit code using the number keys.
The red light will blink twice.

Now, aim your TOTAL CONTROL at your television and
press POWER. If your television switches off, your TOTAL
CONTROL should be ready to control your television

ahhh. see ive kooked this exact instructions up myself but hadn't noticed to enter 991 when using the search function. This has been driving me mad all evening. Thanks man.

No problem, dude. You can buy the whole instruction manual from User's guide, Instructions book, Service manual for about 9 bucks, but that's a little steep for a download if you ask me.

I tried it for hours. No luck. I'm just going to give it to some homeless dude or somthing and buy a new one. Thanks for the help anyway.
