Anyone have experience with this inline fan and carbon filter?

Anyone have any experience with this inline fan and carbon filter? Price looks ok and I like the 2-speed option on the fan. I figure I may try hooking it up to my dimmer as well if it is too loud, but I'm not sure if that would work.

I'm realizing now I'm actually going to have to get something like this going. I'm only in veg during my first grow and it's already starting to get a touch skunky. Can't imagine what flowering would be like, but according to the posts I've seen on here, going without a scrubber (or even opting for a diy set-up) just isn't going to be an option even though I've only got 2 plants going.

Had one of those. It was a bit loud, so I put it in into a cardboard box with a load of insulation, which helped loads. Changed fans eventually cos I was worried if this one could run 24 hours a day safely.

This option looks great. On their web site (http://www.htgsupply.com/Product-A-GrowBright-4in-Inline-Fan-&-Carbon-Filter-Combo.asp) I saw they offer a fan speed controller for an additional $20. Do you have this? Are these just the same as the regular old dimmers you can get at the hardware store? If so, I already have plenty. Thanks again!

i dont like fan speed controllers as i think they reduce the speed of the fan they work on the same principle of a house dimmer switch by regulating the input volts but i wouldn't recommend a house one of them and the buzzing from them are annoying i found just a 1stage fan was best

as well as my Intake and Outtake i have another fan with 150CFM that i can reverse to either take hot air out or bring more cool air in no filter tho

Sounds good. I'll probably pull the trigger on this combo. Are you able to compare the volume of this sucker? I plan to hang it from the ceiling using old rubber bike tubes. I'll have it in a closet that just has drywall separating it from my living room. Currently I have some kind of noisy computer fans in there, but you can't really hear them outside the closet unless you stick your ear against the wall. Is this sucker going to blow those away in terms of noise?

well i have mine all running in my loft so i really wouldn't know how loud they are when im in the loft i can hear them but its nothing my computer is louder than them and when i put the 150cfm fan on i can take my temps down from 89.6 to 40.5 in 3 mins you need to have an intake fan of more cfm than ur out take

This piece I just planned to have running within the room to scrub the smell rather than to exchange air in or out. I have some computer fans set up to intake/outtake in the closet just for fresh air. Since I am using cfls I have no temperature issues. It stays a steady 72-74 ish in there.

i jst receeived my fan and filter from amazon (6 inch) i got the cheaper inline Duct fan . i havent set it up yet since i wont be able to get my lights till next month . but the filter is heavy and looks like this will work very nicely .

Hey Mountain Man...will be interested to hear about it. Especially the noise level. Could you post an update on this thread again once you've had a chance to get it up and running? Good luck!

Hey Mountain man I just ordered the exact same setup as you, how did it work out?
well , they are the same size, so i had to fit a colar on them to fit them together , and the filter i got is huge , lol it works well tho .i beleave i could have got a smaller filter and been good , but i am sure there will be no smell out of the tent at all with this one . i used a speed controler to adjust the temp in the tent a little easier and reduce the noise even more , i am only using the fan at about 75% and it seems to work perfect . , low noise and perfect temps
