anyone get their garden planted yet??

I am going to grow some watermelon and the largest fucking pumpkin on the east coast. I am going to re-use all my soil from my winter/spring crops and mix some nice compost with it. All I need is some serious seed and then go for it. I might even start a journal.

i took some dandelion seed heads and made a wish. then blew them into the breeze. that concludes my spring planting for this season.

I started Mini sweet belle, an hot peppers. Ozark strawberry's, Green Onions and Parsley. Might go to the nursery to grab a couple of cherry tomato seedlings. All in my indoor mini garden box.

I just planted my 2 Mega Cherry Tomato seed pods into my AeroGarden 7 Pod system along with 1 packet of 5.5ml of organic plant food. I have 4 or 5 Chocolate mint cuttings that are in my AeroGarden 6 pod system and I am planing on starting some mint plants and Heirloom Thai Basil.

Finally got around to starting my garden today, with all of the ridiculous weather we've been having around here - night frosts and torrential rains - it has been a waiting game. Luckily I had quite a few things started inside and got almost all of my seedlings in the ground today.

Growing a lot of hot peppers this year... Serrano, Jalapeno, Big Thai, Kung Pao, Habanero, and Peperoncini. Also got my watermelon, lettuce and kale seedlings out there today too. Sowed some neon lights swiss chard and leek seeds, and I'll be sowing some spinach, daikon radish and a variety of beans some time this week. Still waitin on my roma, brussel sprout, and romanesco broccoli seedings to mature a bit before moving them outside.

As you can tell I went a little buck wild this year... I've never even tried Romanesco broccoli before but fractals are fucking cool and this is what happens when you get blazed and go seed shopping.

<-- Here is the mini cab I have them in, I rotate them in and out to my shelf above the cab. The plants love that I changed the old 400watt HPS it was to hot for them and my Shortryder!! They love there new 450watt LED, the Mini sweet bell pepper is so compact I might have to take it out and put it in the window and let it stretch out a little. I also noticed the leaves are much darker green then the one i grew last year under the HPS or any others for that matter..

i figured i would take photos and share.. happy growing!!

specs say it is 8 bands of the color spectrum including Infrared (IR), ultraviolet (UV) plus pure white. The colors are:740nm infrared, 660nm red, 630nm red, 610nm orange, 580nm yellow, 460nm blue, 440nm blue, 410nm violet, 380nm uv and pure white.

its a g8led 450watt from grow dorm.

I really do believe heirloom Toms taste way better.

I grew them..they were OK not bad..now growing cherrry tomatoes.

how late into the season are you able to grow greans before they bolt? i was thinking it was kinda late without some sort of shade. i know they really thrive in the winter. im gonna spray botanical teas and such too! plan to treat my veggies as well as my chronic!

I got in what I could over the past 2 weeks. Radishes, peas, carrots, onion, and lettuce. With tomatoes and peppers, I don't mess with seed anymore. Local nursery has a good selection and a flat of 6 plants is around $2. I absolutely love radishes, so think I'm going to put another round in this weekend. I picked up a mix pack with 4 different heirloom varieties. I can't wait. Probably going to plant my cucumbers, beans, and herbs this weekend too. Tomato and peppers will be the following week. Wish I had more space. There's nothing like growing your own fresh produce. I just don't have the space for things like zucchini and melons they take up too much room. Hoping to be able to get one zucchini plant in.

with zucchini, one is more than enough.

my season is a bit different...

And, usually, I can plant them all season without bolting. But some varieties are MUCH better than others...

As long as I keep sowing every 10 days or so, I can manage to have fresh greens all summer.

Have you considered trellising melons? If vertical space is no issue, that method is supposed to work pretty well. I'm trying it this year to make the most of my sq footage.
