Anyone ever tried this curing schedule?

For the first three days of curing, I will be opening the jar only once per day. After the first three days.. I will then be opening the jars twice per week(every 3 days i will burp them) for two weeks...... then one time after the first month; at which time the cure will be complete.

let me know what you think on that.. share your opinions. Good or bad.. all are welcomed.

Also, if you have your own curing time/schedule/chart that you have memorized or written down.. feel free to share yours with everyone. I'm just trying to figure out how I could improve on my curing. I mean, it gets the job done.. but I'm wondering if anyone around here has a better curing schedule/chart that they follow and use.. that might work a little better than mine.

Thanks!

(have a great weekend ppl!)

peace.

No offence but thats a rubbish idea. If you dont open the jars at least once every 12 hours you're liable to get mold. Once a day??? Trust me, bro. You're gonna get mold and ruin the most satisfying smoke of your life.
I hope I'm not too late.

yeah the only way once a day at the start would work was if you let the bud dry out to much before starting the cure (which would then be pointless because the plants already dried out too much)

Once a day is not enough at first

i use this method it only works if you dry your herbs properly. Until they are almost at a crisp. You have the right way down. Some people like to under dry their bud and throw it in the jar when it's still wet. This puts you at risk for mold. Sounds like whoever taught you to cure knew what was up.

i have to agree that once a day is not enough, i had a few times that i did that and ended up with the dreaded ammonia smell associated with some shwag often followed but a white spot of fuzz. for me i try to trim down the dense colas into a uniform size for drying. maybe 4 days out and then into jars with multiple burps a day then tapering off. i eblieve the 3 week mark they really start to tighten up, lose some of the pistils and take on a change that when you grind allows the terpines to really shine through. its like the notes of a fine wine or colognes.

just curious.. I actually got that from a drying & curing article from this site. It was actually from someone well known too.

But yeah, I thought that sounded kinda off.

I mean, the idea.. during drying and curing.. is to slowly cut off ventilation to the buds. I understand that part.. so I thought I would post what I read.

Secondly, I don't want to embarrass anyone. Especially the "person" that wrote the article.. as I said, they're well known. Well known breeder..

So I won't mention any names.. I just wanted to clarify my thoughts.

Thanks.

peace.

ok people try this get a big cooler and after you hang your buds and the stems are snap dry put them into the cooler with the stems still attached and close it up for 24 hrs and then open it up for 48 hours or remove and hage for 48hsr then when the buds are chrispy on the out side cut them off the stems and place back in the cooler. for another 24 then check if they are still moist repeat until ready for jars. doing this is eaiser then burping all of them jars. just my 2 cents

Heres mine
Hang Dry three - four days after trimming. THIS IS KEY - too early and your giving yourself a headach, golden rule - if you think its pretty dry give it another day.
Once crispy jar up
every now and again - play with it.
Done ;-)
Never had mold, or even close to it. I do like to play with my stuff though. if its soggy after the first day or two jar'ed up Ill usually spread it out for another day, that always finishes it.
If you smoke from your stash jars just getting buds out is enough air to do it proper.
That being said Ive left stuff unopened for days and never had an issue, as long as they are dry enough to start you dont have much to worry about. If your getting mold your either in a wet climate or your putting it in the jars to soon.

Well said curing is not rocket science as long as your bud is not too wet it will not get moldy. There is really no scedule for curing just get the right moisture content, smell, flavor.

It all depends on how humid the air is where you store and open the jars. Or, in other words, what time of year. If you open your jar, and the air is very humid, you'll seal the humidity in the jar and invite mold. I've followed a similar sequence of curing as you suggest, and NEVER had any mold. Touch the buds once a week. If they are moist, leave the cover off (in a room that is not humid) for a day or two until it is dry, then seal it up again.
