I have done early forced budding/harvest outdoor and it was awesome to have a mini harvest of over a pound of "Old School" Northern Lights in June.
I'll give you a nickles worth of free advice.
There are many ways to force plants to flower in the spring/ early summer, simply cut the light to 12/12. There are many ways to do this.
A. Move plants in pots into a area of darkness and out put back into light each day. There's a method to this that if followed works awesome and simply requires that you can place your plants into darkness at between 5:30pm and 6:00pm, and put them back outside anytime after it gets dark, from 9:00pm to dawn, as long as they are back outside for daybreak. You need to be very consistent about the time the plants are placed into darkness. You can put them into darkness a little early and it would be like a natural cloudy/rainy day when it gets psychically dark about 30 to 45 minutes earlier than a sunny day. You do not want to be late putting them to bed/darkness. You want to be consistent that they have 12 hours of darkness. Varying the light cycle to much/ beyond what happens in nature can cause the plants stress and some strains of weed are sensitive/prone to become hermaprodites which will pollenate the plants creating all XX chromesone seeds which will be all females because their was no true male with XY chromosome, only a shocked female that thought it was dying and pollinated itself to keep the genetics alive in the form of daughters, as if it ran a default program to back up its genetics when it sensed an altered light cycle.
Another way to do this is to have a light barrier that you can use to shield the plants from light.
Placing a large trash barrel over a plant every night at 5:30pm and removing after dark so it will get the normal morning light on natures timing cycle.
Its all about being consistent every evening around 5:30-6:00pm for 6 to 8 weeks. Is having a spring harvest worth being consistent for 6-8 weeks? Hell ya it is!!
Got any questions, I'll tell you what I know. I know this, if your even considering doing this you have already decided its worth it because you know you want the weed and you want it now! You have already reached the next plateau, "Desire", now you need to work on the "Practical Application" to reach the desired result "Awesome Spring Harvest"
So now you must ask yourself the question, "Do I want the Spring Harvest? Well, Do Ya? If you want to do this should begin NOW!
Do you have the ability to start seeds indoors and grow them under lights for 30 to 60 days.
Some questions you need to be able to answer:
What date can you safely put plants outside over night without risk of frost? From that date you can start to bud them outdoor if they have been started indoor and grown under light for 30-60 days.
This is the basic idea, more detail is needed about what the strain is ot give more info on harvest date. My Northern Lights was done and dried by the 4th of July, Started budding them May 1st, they finished the last week of June, 7 weeks, picked while the trichomes were still mostly clear, which gave the weed a much more "Energenic High" instead of a "Couch-Locked Stoned". Having about 600gms of Northern Lights for the 4th of July was awesome. Lasted right up to fall harvest. Was it worth it to shuttle 6 plants every night from May 1st to the end of June? Hell ya it was! I looked at it like it was my second shift job. Took me 15 minutes every night but payed over a pound of Northern Lights worth over $6000, which is equivalent to getting payed $100 a night, every night for 60 nights, only instead of money you have the equivalent in weed, which you could sell...
I gave you something to think about, if you can find practical solutions for all the things I listed above then get a plan, or ask for more advice. If you want a strain that has low odor while growing you want Northern Lights. I had a house full of it and even the grow-room had very little odor, house had no odor. Super potent, foundational genetics, low odor, incredibly forgiving, excellent low maintenance, Bullet Proof Strain, great for beginners.
