Anyone ever had success with blurple led

Blurple is * pretty ok* as long as it actually draws power.

I have some that draw like 80w in a 6" circle, they are good for about 3"-12" distance.

Here's a neglected wardrobe with the lights all catywompus.
17 days from 12/12, and haven't been trained as much as usual. Don't have older photos sorry.
Soon I will have a sodium fired up in a tent, but these do fine for my phenos.
These lights are about as powerful per diode as generic blurples get.... 2w actual! They are advertising them as 360w, but are like 80w iirc.
My point is, *LOOK HOW CLOSE THEY ARE!*
The bottom 1/4 of foliage is going in the trash soon.
***Edit: This is a wide angle shot. Usually I keep my plants manifolded/topped and under 12"

.

I use a Black Dog Phytomax 2, which is a blurple but different than the cheap Chinese crap.

I've been getting good results but Im considering something like the diablo scorpion for my next light.

It depends on which blurples ur talking about but They do the job pretty well, I had at one time some Bloomspec LEDs, grew some massive plants in a 3x3, 2 lights at about 260w. I noticed that some of my plants do better in VEG vs using my Quantum Boards. I wouldnt flower with blurple LEDs unless i was pushing 50w per SQ FT

I used Bloomspects a while ago, the ones with the lenses. They were OK and had a limited footprint, not very efficient, the spectrum was blue heavy I think, plants hardly wanted to grow upwards, but the stems and roots were amazing, flowers were really dense but smaller than under modern LED's.
Also Bloomspect is just a brandname they are made by MarsHydro. I bought them because I seen a video of someone doing a PAR test on them and they were good there, but not much coverage is all. They did blast tho for what they were and how little they cost.

I was using Blurple before it was called Blurple. Had a Lumigrow 270 watt and others. Grew some excellent herb, just not very much. The fans were always loud then. A51 white and white/red panels changed my world, now mostly COBs and Boards.

Bottom line if yield is important then don't go blurple or don't go low wattage

It can be done but not worth my time

There's a big difference between the shitty $50 "1200w"120w actual eBay blurples with two or three different spectrum diodes and the $120 legit blurples that have dimmers, veg and bloom switches, 12 different spectrum diodes and good heatsinks with triple fans. One is stark purple, one is a warm pink, but neither of them have the required green and yellow too provide deep enough canopy penetration and uniform coverage. The older style 5/10w diodes they use generally have an unusually narrow beam angle, and are nowhere near as efficient as the newer LM301b/2835 diodes or similar, so put out more heat and consume more power for the same lumen output.

I got two 240w (actual) greenfingers blurples for free as hand me downs I'm yet to test. They are pink/warm white compared to what I expected, and what I've seen from cheaper eBay blurples. I expected limited red and blue diodes, but got IR/UV, 440nm/450nm/460nm and 475nm for the blue, 585/600/620/660nm for the Reds and 3000k/6500k for the whites.

Old thread but I'm gonna chime in here and say that if you had decent blurple lights, you could bang on them. I ran two Bestva "2000W" Elites in a 3x3 tent for my first real run with a single Ghost Train Haze plant in a 10 gallon pot on Remo Nutrients with Terpinator and pulled 528g dry (popcorn included) and it was straight fire. I am actually in the process of building an old school style line of blurple lights just because there are a lot of us that realized what could be pulled off with them and COB's at the same time. I ran 3 P1200s in a 4x8 on a mover with 12 Cobs Stationary and steady pulled 5 lbs or more on most strains and even broke 6 with Big Nugs Fast (Unfortunately no longer around from seedsman). The whole system ran at 2100 watts and a shit ton cooler than HID. Blurples gave me the best terp, resin, and trich production out of everything I've ran. I got turned onto them by a former youtuber named MasterGrowerP and never looked back. I run Optic gear now but I just don't get the same massive triches as I got with blurple.

I had a blurple from a company called Black Dog, it was OK growing but it gets blown away by lights like the Scorpion Diablo by HLG.

I ran Blurple before scientists came up with a way to predict the effectiveness of various white phosphors. Back around 2010, even had a Lumigrow 270 watt and a 357 Magnum. Always made very compa

2012 or 2013 brought white and white/red panels and my world changed forever.
