just subscribed!!! yeah!!! so let me ask this...if i wanted say;"1lb" every harvest @ 1oz per plant dry**(<<is that possible??!!) Is it safe to say i would need to at least grow 16 plants of the auto dwarfs?? what size planters (in inches)(squares preferred) would you reccommend for optimum root mass space and how wide do these plants get? (for spacing) and do u know which of the auto feminized strains is best to achieve 1oz per plant dry??? please help/tell me...(taste, smell, SMOKE ECT???) Also, which size tray would be more sutied, considering amount of plants and space needed to grow 16 or 32 plants? (may go for 2lbs! every harvest!) a 3' x 3' tray for homebox L (16 or more plants) or 4' x 4' tray for homebox XL? (32 plants) Sorry for the dumb questions..,I'm split between doing a ebb & flow or drip SOG set-up under a 600 hps with can fan, carbon filter ect..(any suggestions for equiptment and/or set-up/) And what are the best nutes to use for these??(<<any advice out there for a new grower) HEL;P! and THANKS

heya. 1oz per plant is easily achievable with alot of the new autos, but please bare in mind that sometimes you get REALLY micro plants from autos like 6" in full flower, which evidently dont yield more than a couple of grams.

I'd say yes you'd need atleast 16 plants.
Pot size neednt be too big, i'm currently using 3L pots that are approx 10" x 10" x 12"Depth, the sprouted seeds are sown straight into the pots theyre gonna finish in, s i dont like to transplant autos..Any stress will stunt growth and thats BAAAD with autos, as they have a limited lifespan..
but i'm not using a 600w hps so i would suggest a min of 1gal pots for someone growing in compost using 600w...also its worth noting that alot of Autos like to dive fairly deep in their pots!
600w on 18/6 light schedule from start to finish will result in some good sized plants

plant width also depends on the phenotypes you get get in the seed, some will be short and bushy, almost like a ball, some will be taller and more like christmas trees..
The largest auto i've had was a 4ft high, 3ft wide ECSD that i bred earlier this yr.
But you can always use string to manoeuvre the fan leaves to an optimal position if they get too bushy/wide.
not sure which Fem auto is the best for you, most will easily achieve 1oz under 70w hps, and i think its a safe bet that 600w will obviously fair alot better.
The Auto ak is worth checking out, as are White russian from low-life seeds..
Their selection is nice, and from previous experience, al lil more stable than some of the mdanzig autos. altho danzigs stuff is still real nice.
I personally would go for the 4x4 setup, more potential!!!
but wait for someone who does E+F or drip to chime in on it, as i'm strictly organic bro.
as far as nutes, autos like little in the way of nutes, and will burn real easy.
In compost, organics work great, and are less likely to burn the crap outta your ladies, unless you get very heavy handed.
a good rule with autos is to build bloom nute levels from approx 1/6 at around 3-4wks, then build it up to approx 1/2 the recommended dose...if you dont get any signs of burn after 2wks of 1/2 dose, try buiding it up to 3/4 dose.
also it is worth noting that it can be beneficial to also add a very small amount of 'grow' type nutes after theyre 4wks,like 1/8 rec dosage, just to keep them happy.
Just add the grow nutes every couple of waterings along with the bloom booster nutes.
also molasses works wonders with autos..

But as i said, wait for specific nute advice from someone with E+F or Drip experience, as i have none.

Finally welcome to RIU, and goodluck with the grow!!

Go steady n have a great wkend.

does anyone know if you can clown an autoflowering plant?? If so when should you do it and does it have the same speed in growth from a clone??

Cloning autos is possible, but pretty pointless most of the time.
the veg cycle of autos is Very short(around 2wks from first showing cotyledons) and by cutting for clones, you'll slow the mothers growth right down to a virtual stop, which will result in little yield, also as the clones are the same age as the donor plant, they'll be trying to flower instead of putting down roots, which again, will result in small yields.
Even if you put the clones under 24/0 light, they will not go back to veg cycle, as the whole point of autos is that theyll flower regardless of the amount of light they get.

If you wanna do sog with autos, best bet is to germ a few seeds, do a seed run and let your males pollinate the fems, and then plant out as many seeds as you can fit in your cab/grow space.

Thats kinda what I thought. How many seeds would you get out of lets say 3 males and 7 females. I have never tried to get seeds so I have no idea on how many seeds are produced.

You could end up with thousands bro.
I'd keep one male (the healthiest) then let that pollinate one or two of the fems, again the healthiest of the bunch, that way you can kinda ensure that youre using strong genes, and should result in a yield of mre viable seeds, with a healthy embryo.
Maybe segregate the plants to be bred, let them do their shit, then stick them back in to finish off.

hey frostythesnowthug, thanks for the info man....I'll take it all into wise consideration..but here comes some more stupid newbie ques....So,(let's make sure I understand) as far as pot size, with the set-up I mentioned, (16 or 32) my pot size should be @ least 12" depth correct? and what about width? u said u use 10" x 10". is that what i should use? remember i am trying to fit as many as poss, but with ample space...and i'm going to go with your reccommendation to use a 4' x 4' tray, for a homebox XL. Also, clearification on the nutes...u never mentioned what BRANDS.( Please tell me which ones...I guess this would be for organic, right?) U did mentioned u only go organic. I heard the taste is better that way. If i do decide to go that route, then what is your MIXTURE reccommedtion for my set-up? because i see your very knowledgable with these little girls! And Damm! what was the name of that strain that grew 4'h, 3'w! where can i get those seeds! speaking of stains..give me five of the best autos in your opinion u rate excellent for what i'm trying to do! (yeild, potency, smell, taste ect) anyway will start purchasing equipment around holidays for a new year start. will start grow jornal when that time comes, and thanks again man for your time and advice, you are a big help!!!! TRYIN TO GET PAID AND HAVE SOME GOOD SHIT TO SMOKE FOR MYSELF!!!

hey frostythesnowthug, thanks for the info man....No probs
I'll take it all into wise consideration..but here comes some more stupid newbie ques.
The only stupid questions are the ones people dont ask...
So,(let's make sure I understand) as far as pot size, with the set-up I mentioned, (16 or 32) my pot size should be @ least 12" depth correct?
Not too sure what available ie pots for E+F or drip, I'd go with the 16 and see how ya get on..but yeah some autos dont do well in shallow pots, i've found 10-12" depth works fine, then whatever width you wish 10+"
and what about width? u said u use 10" x 10". is that what i should use?
see whats available for your setup, remember, you're using a 600w, whereas i'm running 150 + 70w HPS, so i dont need bigger pots, your 600 will make for much bulkier plants, therefore you'll need pots that are maybe around 7-8L..
remember i am trying to fit as many as poss, but with ample space...and i'm going to go with your reccommendation to use a 4' x 4' tray, for a homebox XL. Also, clearification on the nutes...u never mentioned what BRANDS.
Bio Bizz 'grow' and bio bizz 'bloom', i also use organic rhizotonic for improving rootballs...The Bio bizz range are pretty consistant in results, all organic, reasonably priced, and are quite hard to burn a plant with.
( Please tell me which ones...I guess this would be for organic, right?) U did mentioned u only go organic. I heard the taste is better that way.
I think organics makes everything better, taste, smoothness, and its alot simpler to grow organic..Esp when i make my own compost from the lawn clippings, leaves, pear & apple tree cuttings/fruit etc...I tend to not have to use a lil of the 'grow' nutes til theyre mid flowering...The compost has enough goodness in it to last them a good while
If i do decide to go that route, then what is your MIXTURE reccommedtion for my set-up?
If you go organic (or even just multipurpose compost if organic isnt convenient right now)
A typical grow would be...
germ seeds.......pot up in 10x10x12"pots......Put on light schedule 18/6......water without nutes when needed(finger in top 1-1.5" of the compost, if it is dry, water, if not leave til next day.)........Approx 17+ days check for sex, check each day until males show(usually around 17-22 days...Keep checking til you identify the rest as fem(usually 22+ days)
....At first sign of pre-flowers, feed with 1/6 dose of bio biz bloom per 1 litre of water...water at 1/6 for 1 or 2 feeds, then slowly build the dose... 1/4 (maybe introduce a lil molasses every 2-3 feeds) ...then 1/3 .... upto 1/2. see how your plants go on 1/2 dose for a wk, if they dont burn, up the dose again.. they tend to not like anything in excess of 3/4 recommended dose....
Continue 18/6 schedule, and water + 1/2 - 3/4 nutes + molasses (1 tsp) until a wk before theyre due to harvest, then flush for the last wk with plain water and a lil molasses if you wish...The other beauty of organics is that, if you forget to flush, they'll still taste great, and not be full of leftover nutes like other methods of growing, resulting in harsh smoke..But with that in mind, you should always aim to flush!!!
because i see your very knowledgable with these little girls! And Damm! what was the name of that strain that grew 4'h, 3'w!
Thats Automatic ECSD (east coast sour diesel)
where can i get those seeds! speaking of stains..
Its one of my own, originally used a healthy but v short ruderalis Indica, crossed with ECSD then crossed and back crossed til its where its at now, i also did another batch of Auto ECSD using Lowryder 2 x ECSD...and recently I've just crossed UK cheese with the Auto ECSD, and i hope to make that a stable Auto V soon..germing in the next coupla wks..
.give me five of the best autos in your opinion u rate excellent for what i'm trying to do! (yeild, potency, smell, taste ect)
My favorite autos are my own, which you can see in the 150 hps resource thread(soon to have auto cheese x ecsd grow) amongst others....
but the ones you can buy that i've liked are
Auto AK, AK x diesel, White Russian,Blueberry Kush ,i quite like Blue streak too..
anyway will start purchasing equipment around holidays for a new year start. will start grow jornal when that time comes, and thanks again man for your time and advice, you are a big help!!!!

Cool and Good luck with the growing. :)

hell yeah. im currently doin a sea of green with 75 dieselryders under 1400 watts. they arent sexed yet so im expecting at least 25 to 30 fems under 2000 watts. i got a 1000w, 600w, 400w goin on them. i may start 100 nex time. do u guys think thats ample enuf light to get at least an oz per plant. im on wut ur on upto! lol

That should be more than ample light to get a min of 1oz per plant provided the lighting is setup so theyre all getting the max light available to them.
According to people i know who've grown the fem to male ratio with Dryders pretty good, so you may well get quite a few more than 25-30..
Would like to see pix of this, do you have a grow journal??

i got auto-ak from Dr Chronic. Only 1 seed ended up being viable but it soon died.
Unlucky Joker.. Sucks but, sometimes thats just the way it is..
If they were Lowlifes beans you should hit them up with an email, or PM over at HG420.com (sorry to point someone outside RIU) you may get a replacement pack, esp if their guys at hg420 have been having probs with seeds not germing too.

Why'd your seedling die?

How does the bud turn out for these autos if they get pollinated. I have has some strains that arent too bad even with seeds, but i dont know about any of the autos. i am considering sexing some plants.

Not sure on some of the autos, but the ones i've crossed have been fine.
I've tended to pollinate the lower buds on a coupla plants when i need only a few seeds, which slows their growth alot, but they still grow new pistils and get lots trichs on em.. unpollinated main and larger side colas will still continue to grow..
By pollinating the lower popcorn buds you can happily harvest the rest of the larger side colas and main cola, and leave the lower buds to finish seed production.

I usually pick a strong fem from the ones i get and pollinate the entire plant if i have enough available pollen...Leave it for an hour or two, mist with water, leave it to dry off a lil, then back under the lights without much chance of any rogue pollen getting to the others and doing too much damage..
