anyone else in mi got spider mites recently?...

I am a patient in Michigan and been having problems with spider mites the last month or 2 . I have them under control now! but talking with other patients I have heard that a lot of them have been having problems with spider mites this time of year .. has anyone else in Michigan experienced this problem lately? I know a lot of people are having problems with fleas on their animals right now.

I personally have avoided them but have a few friends that weren't so lucky. It's getting below freezing every night up here and they ar trying to seek refuge in a nice warm grow room. I treat my plants with neem every 2 weeks in veg and haven't had any bug issues in mi yet, other than a few gnats.

Anyone who grows is going to have to battle spider mites sooner or later, its just part of the game.

I personally like to treat my plants with AzaMax every grow even if I don't see any bugs just as a precautionary measure. I use it as a foliar spray mid veg and again two weeks into flower. I also like to have a few lady bugs roaming around my room to hopefully kill any intruders before they become a problem.

If I actually do find mites in my garden I spray the plants top to bottom including the underside of the leaves every 3 days for up to two weeks. Its important to spray the plants every 3 days because that's how long it takes spider mite eggs to hatch. After a couple weeks of multiple AzaMax treatments I'll unleash a bunch of lady bugs to catch any survivors.

I have been using azamax and zero tolerance and so far everything looks pretty good . I've been treating every Third for a while now and have not seen anything move lately. I never thought I would get these nasty things but now it's all about prevention. I have never tried the lady bugs. are they expensive?

I use mighty wash. every 3 days if I see them every two weeks if I don't.

$10 for 1500 at pretty much any grow store. They will keep for a couple months in your refrigerator.

That's not a bad price. I just don't know if I wanna have them flying all over the house! Do you have issues with them leaving the grow area?

I'd say about 10% leave my grow room, but that's probably because they are looking for food.

prolly good to alternate LB w sticky traps for gnats.. I get bummed when the good ones get stuck f'ed.

I used ladybugs. They did everything they could to get to the bright light. Make sure your lights are completely sealed.

Ya they have been really bad this year a buddy of mine who is a proffesor said we are going to start having mutant breeds that are immune to alot of the organic pesticides, since so many people are growing these days, i personally azamax 2 weeks into veg automatically and then neemevery 2 weeks till 4th week of flower dont see them so far this year, mighty wash is good but sooooo dam expensive if you have a larger garden.

A basement doesn't stop them at my place... Seems like they come back every couple years, like clock work.

My garden was attacked by spider mites....its no joke. Lost a harvest but managed to salvage some plants and clones. I ended up coming an understanding that I probably wont eradicate them all, as Ive sprayed with pyrethrin spray to control the population. They are virulent bastards, hearty and survive anything. The eggs hatch after you've killed the colony and start reproducing like crazy. Like some said here, just treat the plant as if you do have mites....The problem really comes when an infestation manifests itself.....ALSO....AVOID OTHER GARDENS!!!! Nope.. over a year now with nothing but fungus gnats... Now I'm paranoid though lol.

This isn't a jinx because I don't believe in that shit but trust me, anyone who grows long enough is going to get them sooner or later. Be prepared, I've had a gallon of Mitey Wash sitting on my shelf for almost a year now.

One of the most important things you can do is to spend the time every couple days to really examine your garden looking for signs of insect damage. You can have mites for weeks before you'll ever see any big signs of damage unless you really get face to face with your plants. Look for tiny little light colored specks on the top of the leaves, it can almost look like a small amount of dust at first glance. The mites themselves will usually be hanging out on the underside of the leaves about 75% of the times, this is where they lay their eggs. The sooner you identify mites in your garden the easier it will be to kill them.

Good post huel. I treat for them every couple weeks, usually neem but I like to switch it up. Haven't seen one since last summer.
