Hi Sunni, I did two years, and now just try to make time for some EVP work. How long you been investigating? Residential, commercial, known haunted locations, cemeteries, all of the above?

Sarah Estep was one of the pioneers of EVP. In the 70's, perhaps sooner, she and a small group pf people around the world were expreimenting with magnetic recorders. She used reel to reel with a microphone. She researched for 12 years before she wrote her first of three books. It is, IMHO, the best (Voices of Eternity). In it she explains that she learned from her "spirit guide" that the spirit dimension runs on just a little different vibration than ours, and there is just a small veil between. In the same way that there are "meduims" here who are more in tune with the spirit world, they too have the same problems....blah blah blah, sorry, long story short.

She realized that the best and most efficient way to communicate is to do it at the same time and place every day so they know where and when to find you. It is easier for all. She did it for five minutes in the morning and again at night. I did that for a few weeks at my home (night only) and had some good results, but I was too busy to continue for long so I was wondering if anyone else does this and with what success.

If you want to see/experience some freaky shit, come to northwestern New Mexico. There is always something going on around here. Cattle mutilations, UFO's, Bigfoot, Skinwalkers, giant snakes, Thunderbird, secret underground facilities (Dulce), The Taos Hum, La Llorona, Shadow People, living Kachinas, so on and so forth, amen.

Saw an old work friend over the Christmas holiday they just moved into a new apartment and her husband just told her the other day that he has seen something several times and he is ready to move. He is 67 years old and did 10 years fed time, he isn't a sissy. So I believe him.

If you're in the metro Detroit area I have a place for you...

Put me in any haunted house, creepy place and I promise I will not see a ghost. I grew up in NOLA and I have been to tons of "haunted" places but never seen a ghost.

How does one investigate the paranormal?

It is certainly becoming more of a science. The more we research, the more we learn about what "helps". EMF detectors are ok. FLIR technology is cool, but in my opinion EVP and video recorded activity are best. There are a ton of really hokey shows on and they are really doing a disservice to the science. People like PBHash do not believe because they have never experienced anything. Think about it, if it were THAT easy, EVERYONE would believe. In America 75% of people believe in ghosts, even more in some type of religious afterlife.

I myself have had paranormal expreience my while life and have validated paranormal activity for others when there was no way to make it up, that is always nice. As far as experimenting, I think EVP is the easiest. It is one thing to go to a website and listen to someone's clips, but there is always a bit of doubt becuase you were not there. When you do it yourself and actually capture an intelligent class "A" EVP, it is electrifying. After listening to thousand of hours of audio you start toe distinguish paranormal from non failry quickly. In most cases true EVP has the same characterisitcs. One of our investigators has a Master's Degree in Speech Pathology and she showed my how you can look at EVP in a spectral view to see if they are man made or not. They tend to be a few hundred to a couple thousand mhz more than human capabilities.

Does this help at all? If you really want to learn I would be happy to help. Knowing is half the battle. We should all be seeking more knowledge about our existence and purpose, yes?

Tv is made for entertainment and to make money. There are some shows that make me want to choke the shit out of the investigators. I honestly cannot stomach any of them. I do occasionally watch TAPS because they try some new tech that is interesting (ghost box, etc). Again, unless you have REAL experiences it is easy to understand doubt.

I am certainly not here to convince anyone. Istarted this thread, not as a debate about the exisitence of a spirit world, but to discuss techniques for those of us who study.

I watch Zak Bagan's show for the sheer entertainment of it. I can't think of anything funnier to watch than a group of grown men running around screaming like a bunch of teenage girls. City folk.
