Anyone catch COVID and lose their sense of taste and smell?

I'm unvaccinated and got it 3 times. First time was bad, but nowhere near as bad as a flu i had in 2016. Second time was very manageable, third time was like nothing.

Worst symptom it gave me was a scratchy throat (imagine sand paper sanding the back of your throat) it is actually unreal how bad it made my throat feel. I dreaded swallowing everytime, and literally had to work myself up to swallow. Burnt my sense of smell to the absolute core. Completely burnt out. It made weed taste in the worst way you could ever imagine. Like some kind of synthetic plastic. I also had a constant runny nose from it.

Just thought I’d put this here incase anyone reads.

For the first time since getting infected I took an antihistamine for what I thought was dog allergies.

Within minutes my airways cleared up. Now today and since taking it my sense of smell/taste is the best it’s ever been! I don’t own a dog and have never been allergic. My brother and dad both had the same sneezy, runny nose and the tablets worked for them, but they didn’t lose their sense of smell/taste.

If you’re still struggling with sense of taste/smell try an antihistamine. Can’t believe how well it’s worked and continues to work!

Hope it works for someone else :)

I got covid 3 times, always the same for me. Fever the first days, then weeks of muscle aches and fatigue. Never had respiratory issues, and never lost my smell/taste. The flu hits me in a similar way with the muscle aches and fatigue.
