Anybody using T5?

I would love to hear about the yield and quality of your nugs. I have 648w T5 setup and it seems to be on par with my 600w HPS in a 5x5 tent, same nutes fed and 2 of the same strains under both.

I've been using T5's for a few years now and can say I get decent grows, love the fact that it's low on elect and heat, many yrs ago I used to use MH and HPS, and can say that T5's are just as good, tho it does take a little longer to grow and flower with T5's.

Happy growing my friend, and btw Merry Christmas.

I use T5 (4ft) in a pinch,
I started with 8 foot T12 back in the mid 1970's
if I was you I'd be vegging under the T5's and budding under the HPS

still a great misunderstood light
at all costs avoid the 2 foot long model,
or just add another, for some grunt

image.jpg I switched from t8 to t5 for this grow. I really like it. It's just a 4' 4 bulb, but that's all the room I basically have because a 8 bulb gets to hot. I have a 90w led ufo I found cheap, so I use it for a little supplemental light. Here is pics from this morning before lights out.

T5's are great, they allow you to dial in the spectrum so there is no wasted energy (photons) Here is my 1000 watt setup ,,,,View attachment 3319902
Dude, please buy a light meter...as you are in for a shock,
those flouro's only have an effective range of only a few inches
hence from day one noobs as in the 1970s and in the 21 century
are advised to hang from chains to within 2-3 inches, of the leading fan
..even from the above post you may notice how
light depraved the plants are further form the source

I agree with vostok, T5's are great but they have to be 3 to 4 inches from plants to be effective.

Dude, I don't follow any of that and I do own a light meter, I also use bulbs designed to penetrate 3 feet of water lol I've been usin this setup for almost 2 years now and average 1.2 to 1.5 gpw with 12 to 18 inch colas because I understand how to properly use light
these pics were the first grow before I changed the bulbs grown with all 4100K GE

That is impressive,
but what if you could lower them by chains?
your yeild would tripple
and no need for the solar suit
or the spf 99 hand creme ...lol

I'm glad Rid posted his pictures....he and a common friend both grow from beginning to end with T5's with great results.

I think that there's nuances to RM3's grow style though. His plants are not over-lapping, or are 5' tall. This sort of counteracts the inherent lack of penetration with floros.

I DO think that my growing style would not work as well with T5's in flower as I grow bushy plants that are often jammed together. I know that RM3 looks at my plant pictures and probably cringes at what my flower room looks like.

i'd be interested in trying something like his setup, only vertical, as it would work well in my space..

They are hanging via chains LOL but lowering them would not increase my yield and yeppers you can feel the UV when your near em :)

I don't buy it. 1000watt on 5x5 but you get 1.2 - 1.5gpw, while filling about half the space...
Yeah I get that a lot, that was the first ever grow under this setup, transferred from a lesser light I didn't even weigh it, The area was much more filled in subsequent grows
