Anybody tried alternative lighting schedule?

Tournois experiments were in bloom.
He found that the plant would flower faster....IN BLOOM.

Thinking appears to be your problem.

Tournois studied light patterns and it's affects on roots and foliage in bloom and vegetative. Along with that, he performed many studies on light transference and plants maximum light intake.

Perhaps you shouldn't make assumptions.

Haha. It's only been a day but here you go. The one on the top looks identical to the other so I figured one pic would do.

I didn't get all scientific and check the width of the leaves but they've gotten wider. They seem to be on par with any other schedule so far, especially considering it's only a half assed soil mix.

Temps have fluctuated between 58F lights off and 63F lights on. Humidity has been a little low, only 62%. That's ok though. The citronella and aloe are getting watered so it'll go back up.

Sorry I like lots of pictures your sativa definitely grew some and they still don't seem to be streching it intrigues me

It's an 8 bulb T5. It's plenty of light. It's too hard to tell if the light schedule is making a diff yet. The 3rd node will be what makes or breaks the cycle's effectiveness. If they don't start to rocket after that, 18/6 will be the better option. That is, as long as I do my part.

You should follow your own advise.....BTW, Tournois did this in early 1912 and published his findings in 1913.
His work with Hops and Cannabis covered flowering times and results. He did these studies "under glass".
Can YOU tell me what "under glass" means ?

So he did this over 100 years ago. Now, if these ground breaking findings were a major discovery that brought long term change to the way people grow C3 plants...Don't you think this practice would still be in major use? Don't even start to bring up the gas Light method as he didn't discover that! The gas light method has been used for a long - long time in greenhouse operations to grow Poinsettias as a way to save lots of $ on electrical lighting.....If you doubt this OR would like to learn more ABOUT the Gas Light Routine. You should refer to Nelson's Greenhouse Guide - chapter 12.

As far as blooming under shorter times - You should refer to Joe Pietri and his merry band of Facebook followers. I fell for this crap last March and tried it in my personal op.....What a fail as far as yields went! Joe and his idiots claims of acceptable yields must have been on crack! I got 28 - 30% yield loss on every strain tested (4).

Your "idea" of reduced lighting during veg is simply idiotic. You would be better served actually taking some Botany and Horticultural classes somewhere and learn some basic's first. Like how a plant actually works and why!

There's a lot I could say here.....but you not worth it.

Be pissy bro. I didn't say Tournois was the foremost expert in growing. I just said he had some interesting info to pass along. Never hurts to seek out more knowledge. Apparently, since it doesn't fit into your style of growing, it's shit?

I refuse to keep arguing with you over some trivial knowledge that is interesting to ME. You don't have to like it. Doesn't prevent me from doing it all damn day though.

So far, they seem to be growing on par... In high 50s and low 60s temps with 70% humidity. Hope you don't have a fucking stroke having read that.

I have the first and the 6th.....The first was from a Greenhouse op for yew bush's from what Taxol was extracted for drug manufacture. I worked for the drug company that owned the op....I ran it. We had 4 BIG sites in W. MI.

For your goals I might go to the local big library and see what they have available....Call them for availability and ask if you might be able access that by Library of Congress there.

Other then that I would get as close to the newest as you can....Lots has changed in greenhouse applications from 78!

Probably not. All it's brothers and sisters displayed bad genetics too. Sometimes it'll wait til the 3rd or 4th node before they start snaggling up. Some of them even came out with just one cotyledon.

I haven't seen a dramatic difference, but with 18/6 the plants seem to recover quicker. Maybe it's just because I don't see them as often (I don't bother them in the dark cycle).
