I'm talking a 600 or 1k on a 25ft+ extension cord 12-18 hrs a day for a long time?

I have a plug/circuit that i can discreetly tap into but im gonna have to run a 25ft cord thru the attic and into my bedroom.

My big concern is the cord holding up long term ecspecially considering that my attic will reach 120 degrees probably in the summer. Im really debating rather to get the 1k or 600 right now. hmmm.. I just bought a $50 10/3 cord, but im concerned. thoughts?

I am no guru with electrics but all the extension cords in Aus are rated to 2400watts so i think 600w or 1000w shouldnt overload too much.

I would think your 10 gauge cord should be just fine. I run a couple 400w set ups with a 16 gauge cord so I wouldn't worry about it too much.

im running a 1000 watt mh, a 60 W fan, a 40 watt fan, four 26 watt cfl side lighting, and 2 14 watt air pumps on a powersytrip thats plugged into a timer, which is plugged into an extension chord, which is plugged into the wall... it is sketchy as hell and the chord is hot as fuck but i have never had any problems... ive been running it this way for about a month now with no problems aside from the occasional blowing of a fuse when my girl uses the blow dryer (1000 watts EASY!) for a half an hour during my light cycle lol ... oh yeah, and did i mention this house has wiring that hasnt been updated since the 70's?

i have a power strip coming from the wall. on the strip i have 2 things plugged in. 1 is a timer with another power strip on it for 2 600w hps. the other goes to an extension cord that goes to another strip with 3 - 4foot flouros on a timer, on that strip i also have another strip for all my vantilation fans(2 4 inch in-lines, 3 oscillating)

i have been running this for over 6 months this time with no problems. well...i cant vacuum while the hps' are on but other than that....its fine

Man, I have extension cords running from every room into my flower room running 2 1000 watt and 1 430 watt hps. I have power strips plugged into power strips running fans and pumps. It has been like that for about nine months now. You should be just fine.

Should be no problem with running a small ammount of gear of the one socket it is when you are running several thing's of one extenstion. Most houses now are rigged to trip so if there should be a problem it will keep tripping but i should'nt think that you will have any problems.................tyke..................................
