Help me!!!!!!!!!!!
I couldn't find any threads on t5 cfl's? Does anyone flower using t5's (blue)? Can I get tight buds? I 'd like to know if they are equal to or better than the hps I use now.
I saw a 4' fixture with 4 lights (6500K) that I might like to try with my StealthHydroponics 6 pack set-up. Has anybody actually used them to flower and what do you think? Please point me in the right direction.

they dont even come close to being better than hps lighting. especially if they are blue spectrum. stick with the hps and use the t5's for veg and clones

I veg with a 250 w hid and it works out great for me and 5-6 plants. Isn't blue what I want for flowering, or do I want red (3000k) with lower k's. That's it. My bad. I had it backasswards tonite, huh. It comes with 4 of either or I can mix them, my choice? That make any difference?

Okay, thanks. I figured I had it backwards. You ever flowered with t5's? I wan't to research it and see if it's better. I'll just keep using hps if it isn't.

I got a bubbleponics system too and IMO you should get better lighting, but yes it will flower. during flowering is when it really need that light. lack of light will slow a soil plant but will only cause smaller buds in the bubbleponics and a little slower flowring cycle

I don't think I've seen any cfl's with a t5 connection. Basically it comes down to the fundamentals of photosynthesis (light energy to plant energy); the plant only converts what light is available to it. The more light energy available, the more will be converted, and (obviously) the more energy the plants have to grow and develop. There simply is no way around it. The best products come from High Intensity Discharge units.

I have a few threads that can assist you in this... One fluro-tube
grower in the Netherlands that grew exclusively with t5's. Amazing
results! No joke. The only trade off is that it takes far longer to flower
fully, but in the end you get amazingly tight nodes(a GREAT thing),
and plenty of solid, tight packed, bud growth.

Be right back with the thread(s)...

You will need to either mix your spectrum. Otherwise you will not
get the desired results. Be right back...

Alright... I know this isn't what you were looking for
but it is very close to the same thing you are doing.

Garden Knowm's Buds for Less thread...

Simply put... The thread gives you real experience
with CFL growing; I must insist that you look at T-5's
with the same, if not more, respect than CFLs.

Invest in the T5's and you can do what is done in
Garden Knowm's Buds for Less book.

Check it out.
All spectrum issues for CFLs apply to T-5's.

Good luck.

1. You can't ask hid people for an objective opinion a on anything flouro.

2. I've been looking into t5s and have bought 2 fixtures each with 4 24inch bulbs for $121 each shipped with bulbs. You get to mix or match 6500k bulbs and 3000k bulbs. I will use 6 blue and 2 red for veg and reverse for flower. That's 16,000 lumens overhead (the t5s produce more lumens per watt than cfls). I will continue to use 42w 2700k cfls in clam reflectors for sidelight in flower.

So the answer to the OP is: heck yeah you can flower with them, but use the red spectrum bulbs not blue.

You can definitely get hard buds with t5s just like you can with cfls. Try growwurks.com, they have some deals.

sry, just saw your post saying you have a 250hid. is this Metal halide or HPS?
I have a 150 mh & a 250 switchable. I used both last grow and now I'l looking to buy a 400 w OR this t5 set-up with 4 flowering bulbs. I'm trying to find out if a 400 w hps or a 4 bulb t5 would do a better job getting me tighter buds.

Hard like in hps or more like floros? I'm just trying to figure out which will give me the tightest buds.

Sounds like a deal I was looking at on ebay that prompted my thread.

I have some HID's and was wondering which might be better.

Last grow I used 1 150w & 1 250 w side by side. Ionly want 1 top light. I want to get either a 400 w or that t5 set-up, but after I read these posts, I'm thinking I should go with a 400 w hps.

I've never gotten tight buds from any cfl grow. I dont know what your secret is, but it works for you pretty well I guess. I've never used the t5's, but now I'm thinking maybe I should just go with hps. Heat isn't a problem for me here in the Arctic Circle.
