Anybody Else want to Punch their Cable Company in the Throat?

I understand completely WHY they have to do this, so I am not debating the reason behind it - But really?

Cable modem, cable tv, dvr and my home phone are all down going on 9 days and I am connecting through my neighbors router. I call them the second its down and am told they cant come out for a week+...... Okay, im still paying for the service im not getting.... I accept it, and i wait until today (the appointment date) where the mother fucker plays me, cancels my appointment as im waiting 5 feet from the front door since 10:30 to the present time. I call up and ask wtf is going on and they tell me I didnt answer the door. The fucking door was open, the screen door was the only thing shut.

I call up the cable company and they tell me call the tech and ask him if he can come back. I dont know why I HAVE TO DO THIS but fine i took the initiative. I call dude up, home boy answers with an attitude i tell him whats up and how i was sitting next to the door he claims he was shouting through the screen door for 10 minutes and nobody answered so he left and that i need to just reschedule.

Nope.

Called the company up, said listen mother fucker im sorry for givin YOU an attitude here because YOU have nothing to do with the issue but we have something we need to settle TODAY or im done with your bullshit business. My entire tripple play has been out for 9 days now, going on 10 - I have been patient and waited my turn for maintenance and the mother fucker didnt even come to my house before canceling and saying i didnt answer. I took off work today specifically to wait in your 5 hour window and then you cancel on me like this? No. Call your tech, let him know hes comin back to house TODAY, not tomorrow, not on monday - TODAY. If he doesnt come back TODAY cancel my service because I dont want anything to do with your failed company.

I shit you not, im not even blazing today because of this - but I want to. I really want to punch this dude in his throat. Hes bullshitting, he didnt knock he didnt anything - i was sitting next to the door waiting and nothing happened. I dont know what the fuck these people are thinking but paying such a large sum of money every month for a service that is out for 1/3 of the month? fuck that....

Anyway have a good day guys, punch ur cable company techs in the throat.

I don't pay for the cable I get. My buddy hooks me up to the line out back of my house. Pay TV isn't worth the money they charge. So I don't pay. Mostly I don't even watch TV I just watch Netflix on my iPad

I called at&t to get another remote sent out to me because the original one was defective. The lady was nice about it and said it will arrive in two weeks... two months later nothing. The remote started working about a month later out of the blue but just the stupid fact that this lady prob did nothing just pissed me off. Every time I call there is always an issue. I feel your frustration

This is what happens when these companies are allowed to get so big. Once they have monopolys and all of the competition is gone they can pretty much do whatever they want. there is also a part of your contract with them, as well as your cell phone contract, that says if you want to sue them you have to go to arbitration and cannot participate in a class action laws suit. (the supreme court actually just ruled on this) so they pretty much have a free p;ass to fraudulently charge all of their customers because they know the majority of customers will not waste their money on a lawyer to fight an extra $30 charge, they have essentially become untouchable unless congress makes some changes.

here's what you need to do:

1) forget the attitude, they dont have to do anything for you. having an attitude only makes their day worse, which will not help YOU.

2) call customer service and talk to them about your issue, tell them that you are not going to pay for service you aren't getting. they should tell you something about crediting your acct for the lost days.

3) during this call you need to talk to more than 1 person. when they ask you how their service has been tell them it's been horrible and you want to cancel your service.

now you are in the 'holy land'

they'll transfer you to the person who does the cancellation, which is really a department on customer retention.

these guys are the ones you can get something out of. i got my bill reduced by 45 bucks per month for 2 years + a few months of free HBO b/c of some crazy shit similar to what's happening to you.

most of the techs dont even work for comcast, there sub contractors....

Sounds like Comcast. They have been going downhill for several years now. Redivider has some damn good advice. The department he is referring to is called Retention. These are desperate people that have to meet a quota or they lose their jobs. They will be more than happy to give you a great deal. Keep track of the days you've been out of service and demand credit. If the customer service rep is unwilling then ask for a supervisor. Be civil. They work for a living and it's a tough job. Comcast is not employee friendly. They have unreal quota expectations and if you don't meet the quota you can and will lose your job after three write-ups. It's a thankless job and those customer service reps take a pounding every day from customers.

They are a total rip, but if you look at it from their point of view its not in their interests to invest any more money in customer service. The majority of their revenue comes from a small percentage of their total number of customers, these are the really big customers they have. However, the majority of their customer service (one of their largest operating costs) is dedicated to the portion of customers (which happens to be the largest, the regular folks) that generate the least amount of revenue for them. With this in mind and the fact that they are protected from class action law suits, they have zero incentive to provide better service. Where I live I pretty much have no other option than to get internet from comcast; so what are we suppose to do? just boycott them?. This is why our constitution does not allow monopolies, somewhere back in the day politicians were actually looking out for us. But now that these corporations are so large they are corrupting every facet of our government by campaign contributions and armies of lobbyists, along with getting supreme court justices on the ballot. the whole system is totally fucked. We need a revolution.

Oh yeah but I got a story for you. So they end up sending somebody out 20 mins after the raging phone call - dude checks all my shit and tells me theres no problems but he needs to go up on the pole to check the lines and filters up there to make sure. After 20 mins he comes down and tells me that when I upgraded to the TURBO cable service and got all the new channels - they never dispatched a technician to take the basic filters off of my shit. So I have been getting shitty cable, cutitng in and out - barely working when I want it and a faulty DVR. I say to myself shit, I've been paying over 40.00 extra from my old plan and they never gave me my service. I call them up, i talk to this dumb bitch who seems to think that shes the supervisor. After numerous attempts to get a refund of the difference for 3 months of service that I never recieved (a 'whopping' total of 120.00) she tells me theres nothing she can do and basically I am shit out of luck. I say let me talk to your manager/supervisor/boss whoever is in charge; "They are going to tell you the same thing so Im not going to transfer you." Okay. Lol. Dont worry about it I'm just going to come in there in person.

Only time I can go is in a week - but thats cool I dont care my stuffs working now. Well, 5 mins after that - I get a call from a blocked number - I answer - "Hello this is time warner cable calling to review your satisfaction with customer service respresentitive that you spoke with today" Oh mother fuckin boy did I air it all out. At this point I smoked some afghan kush and drank a couple beers - trust me I let this mother fucker know.

I understand that "its only 120 bucks dude let it go" but no - I work my fuckin ASS OFF for my money and when I get fuckin robbed by some mother fucker in a suit in tie its no different then being stuck up at gun point - infact id rather get mugged at least Id have a real chance of fighting back. Fuckin america. *edit* Obama.

once your local area converts to fully digital signal, you ll not ever be able to get service without an activated boxl no box, no service, no box code in THEIR SECURE SYSTEM, no service, just a nice blue screen.

if your in a big cit, try a digital antenna. mount it as high as you can in the air, check where the tv broadcast towers are in your area, and turn the antenna to face them at 90*. did you know it is a felony if your caught and prosecuted for recieveing cable illegally? the can, will, and have prosecuted for stolen cable.

to the OP. get your chill on. tomorrow at your earliest possible convienience, call your cable company. ask for an Customer Service Manager. Calming, but firmly explain your recent experience. let them know you need your bill credited for all down time, including compensation for your loss of time at work. if they wont do anything, ask to speak with the regional manager for the local system, and get his full name, contact information including email, and follow up by using them in a polite, but persistant manor.
if need be, let them know you are in the process of speaking with your attourney over the matter, as it is fully unacceptable to treat paying customers with such disrespect and disdane.

they have 2 options, correct the situtation at hand, including your Service, and prove they are the company they claim to be, or lost a customer for life and likely create an advocate against their company.

ewww lol att sucks big time. there dsl hella sucked. i felt like i was using a dial up connection. I kept the modem and owed them for like 2 months i didnt pay for so i get a call from this black lady asking if i wanted to pay it or set up a date to pay it. i told her i didnt have any money so she asked me if there was anyone willing to help me out with paying it. lol fucking ghetto ass bitch. i felt like asking her if she would loan me the money. then she got mad and told me i had no intention on paying the bill so i was like allright
