Any special techniques for bud shaping when harvested?

I cant say I have a hay smell, but perhaps its because our climates are different so for me it drys a bit slower wet trimmed than it would for you.
Wet trim for me means I can get in real close with the scissors because all sugar leaves are proud and easy to get to.
I really do it because I hate dry trimming, I know a lot of folks prefer a dry trim but its just what I prefer.
Agreed i do most of my trimming wet its a pain in the arse especially with leafy strains i find if you do it dry its alot harder to clip the tiny leaves as they curl round the bud when dry to each there own but id say its the easier option to trim wet the hay smells a different thing that comes from drying too fast ime

My guess is that you smoke your stash before they can sit in the jars for a month or so. Which is fine, to each their own
Definitely not that bad a smoker XD none of my jars have buds like that and i got a jar a few feet away from me that has been sitting there for maybe 3 1/2 months. I've never had any better looking shaped buds just by letting them cure in a jar. Kinda silly to me, but im not gonna say it's not possible.

Loose hand trim vs machine trimmed. I'd take the stuff in the first pic over that.machine trim bud that knocked around in a tumbler for 30 minutes
Ok, so i take it you know for sure the machine can make them look that way? I definitely don't care enough to lose trichs and any good resin just for a look of a bud. I just always saw them and wondered why none of mine ever looked that way. Most all my stuff does look like pic #1. Not bad looking at all in my opinion.

when the buds look like smooth pebbles thats a main indicator that those nugs were rolling around in a tumble trimmer for a while.
Cool. I've seen people say they love them, and can obviously tell it is easier and faster than by hand but i might harvest 4-5 oz per harvest most times so i don't really think i need that stuff.

Enough time to fully ripen and a wet trim.
Your first pic makes me think it could of done with longer to fill out a bit more.
Ooh nice buds buddy.

here’s one of the buds from the White Siberian I harvested nearly 2 weeks ago.

I remove all large fan leaves and protruding bud leaves but leave little sugar leaves until after they are dry.

it’s still hanging up until tomorrow when I’ll be boxing it all up.CAA2D504-8718-4E48-9336-56C3BB90FC5A.jpeg

It's a strange thing to aim for anyway, so i dont go out of your way to do anything "silly." Your bud looks fine as it is. If it's a good smoke, then it's a good bud.
