Any special techniques for bud shaping when harvested?

My question is are there cretian techniques that make buds look better than others? My buds tend to always look like the 1st bud and the right bud in the pic of multiple. How do they make buds look like pic #2 and the left bud in pic #3? I'm sure it can maybe be strain dependant, but they just look so slick and smooth shaped.

The bud you are showing between the fingers looks as if from a sativa-dominant genotype, these type that need a longer flowering time and are prone to foxtail when lightlevels are good.
What you are looking for are indica-dom. varieties that develop rather dense and grapelike buds.

I have grown Sativa dom hybrids and 80-90% Indicas, but still never had buds that look as good as those compact ones. I definitely thought it was more than just the "Indicas grow hard nugget buds" factor and just some squeezing of the buds, but than the loss of resin and trichs made me wonder.

Second pick was packed tight you can lightly vaccum seal. Trim closer or get different genetics.. dosidos crosses are usually compact
Not familiar with nor do i have a vacuum seal, but even a better trim on pic #1 doesn't make it much different. I do think i have some good genes, and even if most of my buds look like that #1 pic(and smoke/vape good) i was just curious of it was plainly just a gene thing or a technique. My buds are all for myself or GIVEN for ZERO money when i have more than i need between each cycle, but i still like the way those tight ones look.

Machine trim makes sculpted buds. It also buggers the trichs. Just smoke the raggy looking bud.

Do you have a good light? Less than optimal lighting can produce raggy looking bud.

Enough time to fully ripen and a wet trim.
Your first pic makes me think it could of done with longer to fill out a bit more.
None of the pics are mine, i just googled for fast comparison on my phone. Do you believe wet trim has a huge impact? I usually cut and take off all fans right away than hang for around 7 days and than do finer trim. I could try full wet trim, but not a fan of the thoight of hay smell.

I'm surprised nobody has said this, but dense buds sitting in a container long enough will provide that look (a.k.a curing stage). At least ime. Obviously I dont mean crammed in a container. Just 75% full of dense nugs will provide that smoother look

My guess is that you smoke your stash before they can sit in the jars for a month or so. Which is fine, to each their own

I cant say I have a hay smell, but perhaps its because our climates are different so for me it drys a bit slower wet trimmed than it would for you.
Wet trim for me means I can get in real close with the scissors because all sugar leaves are proud and easy to get to.
I really do it because I hate dry trimming, I know a lot of folks prefer a dry trim but its just what I prefer.
