I know at least seven heroin users in their sixties. I have known many opiate users, none have died. Most simply quit because it was no longer what they needed in life.

I am not saying heroin or opiates are benign, statistcs say one in four who try it get ensnared. That is piss poor odds but it is the truth. Arm yourself with the truth. Nit all people fail at using opiates. Some fail at smoking pot. Some fail at drinking and frankly you don't know what you will fail at. I failed at meth. I can never even taste meth again (like that is a loss). I had to get help.

but going to a guy who ruined his life gambling and looking to him for hints is counterproductive unless you already suspect you will have a gambling problem. Most do not. (but I could see how easy that one might be to consume you)

Stupidest fucking thing I've read all day. I just turned 21 and I can only blame myself for the drugs I've used. Depending on other people to not let me do drugs would just make me a fool. After age 16, I think its safe to shift the blame to the user instead of the dealers/manufacturers/society/etc.

most of the skagheads i knew got in more bother with all the thieving and jail and beatings they got for being thieving skag heads

I've never done heroin, or any opiate. But I'm sure even a junky could see how dumb you sound. I can't believe you are on a subforum about "halluninatory substances" on a marijuana forum, trying to tell people how to live their lives. Thats like a slap in the face to the millions of 20 year olds out there who are MUCH MUCH more intelligent and put together than someone like you. Someone of that age IS an adult, and by saying that they arent and that they can't make good decisions based off of their age; you are doing nothing but creating a scapegoat for them. If people thought about their decisions and knew they couldn't deflect the blame onto something or someone else...don't you agree that they might make better decisions? Or were you one of those people who fucked up in life and blamed everyone but yourself?
