Any Reefers?

Yeah they say the hobby costs about a hundred dollars per gallon...lol...Unless you're a big DIY'er, like myself...But yeah, ever think about a little pico reef? 5 gallons or under? Easy to maintain, cheap to stock with rock and livestock(since you only need small frags, and a 3 gallon reef fills up fast!)
it was more of the live rock that costed a lot like i said small town and actually the only people who sold salt tank stuff closed about 2 years ago but i was paying 70$ a pound of live rock and oyu need a lot of it so i decided it was too much money, i would like to set the tank back up just to do like regular aquarium and not salt water

Ah, the trick there would be to buy a lot of dry dead rock, seed it with like a pound of live rock, and just go through like a 6 month cycle while the bacteria colonizes the dead rock...Bingo! 50 pounds of live rock for a fraction of the cost. $70 a lb is pretty high though, considering I thought 7 a lb at my LFS was unreasonable! lol

What do you think would be good for freshwater? More into planted tanks or fish? Your 50 gal could be a cool cichlid tank, or make a bitching planted tank too!

those look super pretty
Yeah, wish I had the patience for planted tanks. The way I feel as it is, a reef tank is like a saltwater planted tank, sorta...lol...except the plants are living animals...that sometimes look like plants...lol..I mean, technically, there ARE planted marine tanks, with macroalgae, but that's not my style. I like things than glow bright neon green and pink and orange...haha

Just want to say all of your reefs out there are gorgeous. I tried reefing for a while but I just wasn't good at it. Awesome little creatures though? I got into dart frogs after reefing... land plants treat me much better ;)

Nice, vivarium are cool too! I've been tempted more than once to set one up. Almost pulled the trigger on a nice terrarium on clearance the other day.....One that you can fill wit water for the first 6 inches or so.

What size tanks? Any saltwater or reefing? Sounds good...I have three more tanks in addition to the three I already have set up; my problem is that i have a shortage of counter space in which to put them...lol...right now I have the 36 gallon freshwater, a 3 gallon mixed reef, and the brand new 5 gallon reef.(tank isn't new, but the reef inside is...lol)
