Any recourse if seeds don't germ?

I have some seeds that don't look like they're going to crack. I get 9 out of 10 to crack normally and I have 6 seeds from Sagamartha and looks like they're not going to break open.

How long do you normally give a seed to germinate- I'm doing the paper towel thing and always worked well before.

Check your paper towels and if they start to smell rank change them. But like abudsmoker said give it a few weeks. Some of those little buggers are hard to crack. Try to keep them warm but don't cook them.

ive seen seeds germ after 3 weeks of nothing. some have terribly hard shells
Yeah if you know which ones have the hard shells you could soak them in distilled water for a while...no more than 24 hrs. though. If a seed strain looks hardy to me i.e. BB I soak then paper towel method. You can also try to scar the seed by taking a matchbox, empty the matches of course, insert small piece of sand paper and shake for 30 seconds or so. I'm a bigger fan of the saok though. Best of luck!!!

That's all interesting, thanks. I know there's a method of dropping the seeds in a glass of water which is something I thought about switching them to but I guess I'll just make sure they stay pretty wet in the paper towel and pay attention to the smell.

The soak just gets the water in the seed and softens it up. Paper towel should work though. You are heating them like mogie said right?

Yeah, they are on top of a dvd player and it's keeping them warm, not hot. I realize now it could take a week or more and that some seeds take that long. What worries me is that they are Western Winds which I bought because it's basically Kali Mist, less expensive, and actually available. But I have this vision now of it being a slow selling strain and thinking these could be years old.. I know, patience.
