I’m looking at a house just south of Hillsdale close to the Ohio line , its kind of a dump but it will give me a MI address so I can get a card and start growing , what I need to know is that area MM friendly , I’ve heard that some county’s are worse than others , I would like to get some first hand knowledge from someone that in that area .

I can't say for sure but my advice to you is, no matter where you end up conduct yourself as if you didn't have a card. That is to say with great care to keep yourself off of ALL radars.

I have also been checking Detroit , real cheap homes there , I for sure understand what your saying , and plan to keep a low profile , my sister lives just over the MI line in that area , is it true that some county's are not good areas if your growing your own meds ?

Yes from what I have seen/heard there are "good" and "bad" areas to be in. I think most will agree Oakland county has taken a opposing stance to medical cannabis, while others like Genesee seem to be a safe haven or at the least have a more welcoming community.

Lenawee has been ok, but it is very conservative, and is one of the last strongholds in even preventing hunting on Sundays....because you're supposed to go to church and not do anything else. That is a red flag to me. Adrian does have a dispensary I believe, so that's saying something for that city.

Keep your head down in Lenawee for sure, but it's no Oakland, who wants you to go to prison for mmj.

Come to Washtenaw, no one gives a shit what you do, so long as you don't cut down a tree or something like that lol.

I'll check Washtenaw when I get up there , checked the Realty sites , seen nothing I can afford , but did find another one thats between there and Hillsdale , looks like its still in Lenawee county , again a real dump but has almost 3 acres and its out by its self , could really stay under the radar there , thanks for the info .

I think that you are looking in a good area. If you're at retirement, or close to, the quiet life may be nice. Some of those small towns have a few services, but be prepared to drive some if you're out of town. Detroit may be affordable but your neighbors and ample burned out buildings, could affect your quality of life. Are you prepared for a Michigan winter? Not too bad really... I actually didn't have to call my plow guy once last winter... so it could be the opposite this '13.. Lol. And it does get darn cold here tho. Supplemental wood heat can offset heating costs..
Hi Abe , I was raised just outside of Bryan Ohio , Real close to that area , and I sure do remember the winters , I have been down here in Florida for 30 years now , and I'm way past retirement , getting old sucks , and MM is going to help ( I hope ) a 1000 w will help keep me worm , I'll only see the snow through the window . going to try to get up there in a week or so , I'll figure it out from there . Wanted to find out if there are many growing in that area and if there is any problems .

If you're following the law exactly and staying discrete,
I doubt you'll have a problem in any county.

If you want to get into caregiving (up to 72 plants) I'd
make the investment in Washtenaw county. There are
plenty of affordable places in Washtenaw if you don't
care too much about the neighborhood/school districts,
and etc. Take a look in the south/southeast areas of
Washtenaw.

Good Luck!

A 1000 will help keep ya warm Moonflo, but 4 of them can be even warmer... I couldn't even begin to imagine my retirement without mmj. Some comforts are easy to get accustomed to... Heck yes mmj will help.. on a few levels. Good luck finding a bargain house. You can't go wrong in rural Michigan.
So far I have found 2 places , they are both repo's owned by the bank and you have to make offers on them , the end of the offer date is the 15th , I really do not understand the process . I see no down side to this project and 4 light would be better , if it gets to cold I will live in the grow room . I read so much about how bad the smell is and then I read others saying how good it smells , my wife keeps telling she wants me to use a section of the grow room to grow a lot of mint plants , we always did grow mint in the garden and she would bring it into the house a put it by the Air Cond return air vent . Is the smell a problem to be concerened about ?

Smell can be a problem depending on strain and your final location.

Mint would be nicer than putting a roadkilled skunk out front.. Btw lots of folk companion plant spices, peppers, tomatoes in their rooms
