A good thing to do on your first one I just let all the hairs turn brown. At least 95%. Then you will know what you’re looking for.
You will see the calyx swelling and changing colors etc.
White hairs (unless foxtailing) are usually indicators that the bud is not finished.

Ok thank you. I’ve been driving myself just with a damn jewelers loupe. Some of em look about 75 percent brown so I guess I’m close. Thanks I appreciate it

For your first grow I would put the loupe away and just watch the hairs. Once they get ~95% then start checking them. You will look for amber on your bud sites. Depending on type of high you want look for ~15% amber. This is where strain and personal preference comes into play.
