Any ideas how to cool an 8ftx8ftx8ft room with 2x1000 hps?

2 lights will run about 9 amps on 240v, and 17 or 18 amps on a 120v. what are the rooms adjacent to the closet? another closet? If so cut a vent in the adjacent closet. Pull the conditioned air from there.

How far is the panel box fro the closet? run a 10 gauge wire to it and hook it to the box. Through in a double pole 30 amp breaker or 20 amp and you got it.

A friend is building two similar rooms.

He's going to use a cool tube reflector with 6 inch ducting attached to a nice inline fan to suck the heat out the reflectors.

He's also going to have a 600 CFM fan sucking air out of the room and most likely a lesser powered fan pumping air into the room.

Also if you can afford it a nice AC unit is always great!

I've got a 2x2x2metre tent, and 3x600W HPS lights (1800W total).

I had heaps of problems with heat.

I switched all three lights to cool tubes, all connected together with one fan hooked up to extract, and they work unbelievably well. No more heat problems. In fact some days its too cool in there.

Its called balanced heat exchange, lets say you have one 1k lamp and you put a 360 fan on it and another 1k lamp that you put an 800 fan on, both will go through the motions of drawing heat from the lamps but the lamp with the 360 on it will be 6-10 degrees cooler, this is because the air would have hung around inside the lamp long enough to absorb lots more heat, this is why its generaly a bad idea to daisy chain lamps as the air entering the second lamp is already holding nearly as much heat as its capable of. bit simplifyed but hey...
