Any HVAC people. Winter time running thermostat to FAN ON mode

I actually have 3-4 of them. I use to have rentals and I'd always have a couple of these on hand for emergencies. Mine are all 10 - 20 years old and all still going strong. I think they are all 1500 watt. They are great little heaters. Silent and dependable.

Noise bothers me too, and my houses propane boiler is directly below my bedroom, so the less it runs the better!!

Does heat come out on both sides of these? ... I heard they should only be ran on low level, bc on med/hi they are flawed.

If your home is under 1,000 s.f., you'll be able to heat it with 2 of those electric heaters. Probably one most of the time. As far as getting the heat out of your basement, leave the door open. Heat rises. You won't get much though!!

I have a Ranch style house and use one of those oil filled heaters in the master bedroom, all winter long, and I'm in NY where it gets cold. They are super quiet and quite efficient.
Not to nitpick, but all electric heaters are the same efficiency by definition. 1 watt = 3.4 BTU

Adjust the blower so its not as loud? To help my noise sensitivity due to tinnitus? That would be good thanks
I wasn't talking about adjusting the blower heat speed, just the fan only speed. In order to adjust the blower heat speed you will need to take what is called a temperature rise reading. This is the outlet temp minus the inlet temp. This unit asks for a 20-50f temp rise so if you do adjust the fan speed for heat you'd want to double check that after. If it's too high you can burn ur heat exchanger out and too low would mean the fan speed is too high. Always change your filter too.

I looked again online at the manual and I'm pretty sure I'm looking at the correct one. I don't see a fan speed tap on there so I don't think there is a way for you to adjust the fan only mode on that unit. If you're interested just get pictures of the PCB in front of the blower, and a pic of the inside of the doors there may be some diagrams. There should also be a booklet that came with the unit that would have the info on how to do it in there. If the noise from the unit is too loud on heat you could possibly adjust it but if not comfortable you could pay someone to do it. Here is how the manual says to do it. You do not have and ECM blower I believe it is a 5-speed blower, so there is room for adjustments. You can also adjust the post and pre- purge to make the fan run longer. If you replace this furnace in the future I would recommend one with and ECM motor because it ramps up and down and is much quieter when it turns on.

"This furnace is equipped with a PSC circulator blower motor. This blower provides ease in adjusting blower speeds. The Product Data Book applicable to your model provides an airflow table showing the relationship between airflow (CFM) and external static pressure (E.S.P.) and a table for the proper selection of heating and cooling speeds. The cooling blower speed is shipped set on HIGH, and the heating blower speed is set as indicated in the Product Data Book. These blower speeds should be adjusted by the installer to match the installation requirements so as to provide the correct heating temperature rise and the correct cooling CFM. To adjust the circulator blower speed, proceed as follows: 1. Turn OFF power to the furnace. 2. Select the heating and cooling blower speeds that match the installation requirements from the airflow table in the Product Data Book applicable to your model. 3. Relocate desired motor leads to the circulator blower heat and cool speed terminals on the integrated control module. (Terminals are identified as HEAT and COOL (hot)). If heating and cooling blower speeds are the same, a jumper wire must be used between the heat and cool terminals. This wire is provided in the literature package. 4. Connect all unused blower motor leads to the “PARK” terminals on the integrated control module. Any leads not connected to the “PARK” terminals must be taped. 5. Turn ON power to furnace. 6. Verify proper temperature rise as outlined in Temperature Rise section"

as I said I didnt see a FAN terminal so most likely you can't adjust that.. too bad.

I would recommend seeing if you can use a thermostat with the circulate function so it runs the fan on for 15 minutes and then off for 45 minutes

I really want to stress you shouldn’t try to make any modifications yourself. If it’s that high interest maybe make a call. If you break it you lose all negotiating power from an option to need of service.

Your water heater should have a vent and fin setup and 100% should not be displacing anywhere in your home. It’s a smart idea to install a detector near any water heater.

The thing about AC and heating system or comfort systems is they are designed to benefit entire home control. Your temp sensor is where your thermostat will gather its readings from so that location will matter. If you are gonna continue to grow you should utilize the energy already in place. Pump your excess heat from your grow to places you can use it ex. Your room or a greenhouse. You can buy reflective insulation board and use it around your grow space. Instead of fighting the heat, harness it.

Good Luck.

Wouldn't it make more sense to put two holes spaced apart directly from your tent into your hvac system so the entire thing is on your duct system? I would tie it In both on the return side with the intake farthest from the furnace and the exhaust as close to the furnace as you can on the return side of the system

I stopped growing after 8 years. Everything was perfect the first 7 years and the last year I had issues with PM, etc... Yeah I use to be able to set my upstairs thermostat to 64 degrees and it would only turn on for 5 mins an hours bc the heat from my basement would rise and heat the upstairs better. That's why I am trying to just heat the upstairs (750 sq feet) with a electric oil filled radiator.....
