im fightin a lil bit of a temp problem, due to conditions, some days, my room will get up to 94-98 degree's, with lights off it gets down to about 72-78.

I was thinking I might be able to get by on these temps, as long as i never run 24/0 light schedules, and veg in 18/6, giveing the plant a 6 hour cool off period. if ya think about it alot of tropical places get up to the high 90's and even hundreds, and stuff still grows there... is there anything I could do help it, like maybe misting the plant daily?

i'm looking into ventilation already, just so everyone knows, but im limited on what i can do.

just wondering if anyone has experience with these temps?

There are plenty of people that grow in higher temps around here but I wouldnt recomend anything over 90. Where is your thermometer placed in conjuntion with your plants and your light to get your reading ?

Yeah man i have no proper ventilation.
I just swing my cupboard open and shut really fast for a minute every couple of hours and use bottles of yeast, sugar and water to make co2.
I run the hps for 12-16 hours and leave my fluro tubes on 24/7 during veg.
Keeping the temps and humidity at a perfect constant really does help the plants achieve their maximum potential though and i will one day buy some venting:blsmoke:

dub get u a co2 tank and regulator...you will thank yourself. All together costs hmm 150? Anyways wither higher co2 concentrations you will be able to get ur girls a lil above 90, but not much higher. Ur in danger of serious stressing if you go any higher.

i've heard high heat can cause hermies or males. but i've had my two plants up to 98* when they were smaller and they are showing lady preflowers but now i keep it 78*-84* and they seem fine, just need to water more often.

just throw some pc fans in there and face them upwards at the bulbs... this should help.

Beware my friend...your hermies may not show signs for a few more weeks. I have definitely heat stressed girls into not so girls (hermies). Note that this was blasting adequate CO2 and keeping temp no higher than 93.

You can use an on/off 24/0 schedule... The max off time should be no more than one hour... I get the good timers that can do 15min increments nad just do a 15min on 15min off... Your plants will grow slower because they are really only getting 12 hours of light but because of the on off schedule the feel like they are getting 24 hours of light and will not flower...

Depending on your setup this can drop your temps considerably...

hmm that is a good idea, will this screw up my bulb or ballast or anything with all the switching on and off?

thermometer is on the same shelf as the pots, but its shorter of course, probally by 2 or 3 inches.

i have a fan blowing on the plants and one on the light blowing upwards to it at a close distance, its a good size fan btw, not no dinky pc fan.

Have you given up hope of bringing the temps down??? I am assuming you tried a few things. In my area of the world its December and its cold, to have excessive temps in the winter is asking for trouble once spring and summer come...

Do you have a thread with your layout and ventilation including all the finer details somewhere?

hey dub, i had the exact same problem (somewhat)...i had a 6 bulb 27 watt 6500k cfl grow/veg going in a 3ft(width) X 2ft(depth) X 4.5 ft (heighth), was waiting on a 400 watt hps set up in the mail, when it arrrived and i installed it my temp in that cabinet skyrocket from 79F/40% humidity to 93+F/16% humidity...i had 2 small PC fans down low for intake pulling in a total of 170cfm and 2 small PC fans up high pulling out @170cfm as well... open air hood due to size and money constraints and didnt have room in there for a cool tube set up anyways... as dumb as it sound i turned OFF my small oscillating fan down low that was shooting air up toward the hood, heat rises and the little PC fans were pulling in enuff air to flutter the leaves anyways, the oscillating fan was just moving hot air around in the cabinet, i just let the PC fans "pull" the hot air out and i dropped like 7-10 degrees, hope that helps
