any good soil mixes?

So I'm about to plant for the first time indoors... working on the grow box right now ...got northern lights X skunk. Just wondering a good soil mix to start out with

ro water or tap?
If tap I like:
2 tbsp of garden lime per gallon of soil
dried crushed egg shells
2 tbsp per gallon of kelp meal
Been using sunshine mix 4 as of late.

I've heard of people using egg shells, what nutrients does it provide?

i use one 1.5 cubic ft bag of fox farms ocean forrest and then one 2 cubic ft bag of fox farms happy frog. then i add about 30% worm castings and 20-30% perlite. this is a really good mix, its loaded with goodies and it drains and holds water very well. when it come to soil dont try to save a buck. that cheap stuff has eggs, larva, spores, fungis and all kinds of nasty stuff. get good soil that is gonna be clean of problems.

also dr earth just came out with a new soil designed specifically for medical gardens. i havent tried it yet but dr earth makes good stuff.

bwpz,
Ca.
Alot of people will recommend epsom salt, but I've heard that this may cause an imbalance. I also think that egg shells would provide the Ca more gradually. JMHO.

But you might ask why the double dose. Well maybe it's my nutes, maybe it's just me. But I always run into Ca-Mag issues. Applying these two product. Lime and Eggs has helped out a lot. Hasn't solved the problem completely, but I still consider myself a novice in this game.

Wow very interesting, I use fox farms, but switched from worm casting to a fox farms compost mix with (worm casting, alfalfa meal, kelp meal, and various ather microbe nutrients), then perlite break down for easy dry out and thats it, I do agree with cheap soils being packed with eggs and pest for sure, and still when I was mixing just worm castings in my mix the results were explosive, this compost from fox is pretty new and my hydro store recomended saying it is full of good stuff, better than just worm castings, so I will let all know how it does because this is my first mix with it..............

Also just want to drop my nute info for all as well, for yrs now I have just stuck with EARTH JUICE (grow, bloom, microblast) for my different life cycles, and as I do my starts and get into seedling and small veg cycle I use HYGROZYME for root development.................
