Any Canadian Growers?

The weather forecast is looking pretty bleak for me. I'll be hauling plants in and out for the next little bit

So I know its early, but I'm just reviewing my indoor grow and seeing what I'm going to try outside next year. Looks like the ones that will work (marked as outdoor or indoor varieties) are (note that the seed names link to official site and outdoor profile links to user review grows):
TH Seeds - MK Ultra (outdoor profile)
TH Seeds - Darkstar
TH Seeds - sage n sour (outdoor profile)
TH Seeds - Burmese Kush (outdoor profile) - may not work in prairie Canada
Barneys Farm - Chronic Thunder (breeder is from almost same lat, and says it finishes late sept to early oct)
Barney's Farm - Critical Kush ( says it finishes end of sept)
Barney's Farm - Blue Cheese (says end of sept)
Barney's Farm - Pineapple Chunk (says end of sept)

Now to decide what to grow indoor thus what will be grown as tests outdoor. Any suggestions? I have room for maybe 4 or 5 types indoor

Hey Nuikala I am in Ontario and have not had a frost warning yet. You must be a little north of me. Over all thou this has been a bad summer for growing. Late spring and cool summer now fall is early.

My last harvest i did a skywalker kush and i agree, it is in the top 2 stinkiest plants ive ever grown, the other being Sour Secret. I never did make it out to check on the plants the other day. Im goin in 2 days. its raining today.
Getting pretty cold nights now, down to 4-5 degrees C. im worried about mold now and hope they will do OK.
Just harvested some indoor 600W Sugar Black Rose, its pretty good, small yielding. cant wait to try the outdoor SBR.

The rain has arrived! I have my fingers crossed that it does no damage. They could really use another couple weeks.

mine are still out there too n3fta. I'm hearing ya!

It's never to early to start planning. I have been scouting areas for next year and cutting trees that will allow more light in. This is the best time to clear because all the leaves are changing and falling off so a few branches or tree tops will not be noticed that easily by the eye in the sky. I popped my mothers the 2nd week of January last year.

I think our gorilla next year will have a change of focus. We planted around 21 plants this year, with about 1gal of new dirt for holes. The plants are pretty small when i last looked, nothing like the two girls in the backyard. The plan when we go this harvest is to:
1) Survey the plants, look for where the bigger/best ones grew. Likely the water run off will be better and the light will be better for these spots where these plants are.
2) Take out two 5gal buckets of compost, a tarp, shovels, weed killer, polymer pellets (the water absorbent pellets) and maybe a bail of sunshine mix #7
3) Harvest all the plants, then dig all the good dirt onto the tarp. Mix all the Dirt, compost, pellets and sunshine mix. This way its all ready for next year.
4) Focus on planting 6 plants in the newly surveyed good location. Dig six 5gal sized holes.
5) Kill all the grass for about 4 feet around these holes (worked last year when i killed the grass for my garden)

This way when we come back to plant next year, the pellets will have absorbed the snows water, the compost will have primed and everything will be ready to go. Just plant the 6 plants and see how they do. Also plan on growing the plants another 1-2 feet higher before the planting happens.

Killing the grass will make your plants stick out more. Grass roots only go down a few inches your plants roots will be down a lot further.
For my holes I dig a hole for a 20 gal pot but I cut the bottom out of the pot and amend the soil underneath the pot. I dig down roughly 3-4 feet. It sounds crazy and like a lot of work but when I get results like I do no one can argue about my method.
1st dig and REMOVE the dirt for a 3ft diameter hole down 2ft.

2nd dig down another 1-2ft depending TURNING OVER the soil and add your nutes. Your choice as to what you add, just don't add slow release as it will be to hot for the roots and will burn them. My mix is, bat guano, Epsom salts, domalite lime (helps PH the soil), and a dry organic compost mix, this helps keep moisture also. Dead leaves work too

3rd the 3ft diameter hole I then fill with my peat moss mix. I use about 1/2 a bail per hole. I have small plastic barrels that a mix in (survival store) I add liquid organic nutes (full line of GH organic) in the barrel with water then soak the peat mix in the barrel. After it has soaked for a few min I remove it and start to fill in the hole where the dirt was removed in step 1.
4th I then leave the holes for a couple weeks so the critters will come smell, dig and then loose intrest. This way when I plant my girls they don't get dug up. I try to have 2ft tall plants to put in the holes.
5th I return once around mid July and add a granular bloom mix and water.

Seems like a lot of work but this year I had 8' tall kush plants that yielded over 1/2 lb each and are snow covered. I don't grow to smoke I grow as a passion.

Been getting cold as hell here on the East coast at nights,...I worried the girls arent gonna finish in time before a really bad cold snap hits.They are fattening up nicely,and smells like a skunk raided my yrd in the morning ,,but damn!! patience is one virtue I really have to learn better.
Last bad cold snap turned a few tips brown..so I cut them off ,,and made some cannabutter.. and put it into cupcakes.Gardener maybe,,,baker no.!! but they get me in bed by 8 last night so...lol
If you wonderful folks dont mind taking a look and giving me a rough guess be appreciated. I Been watching the trichomes,but my biggest concern is the cold at nights..cant greenhouse em..too obvious.(wish the kids were little again and didnt know difference between tomatoes and erb ,,:/ lol )

Well folks, I chopped. Moved to a new house and it's not as secluded here. Might be a week or so early yet but I'm goin for a more heady high anyway.

I probably won't be on this site much until next year so I'm wishing you, my fellow Canadians, a happy harvest and a good winter.

Your plants look great, if there is a chance of frost and most of your Tri's are nice and milky you would be fine to harvest. I like the hint of purple in the hairs.

It's been gorgeous here the past 2 weeks. So a great break in the weather watching. Supposed to cool down to 9 this weekend. Another 2-3 weeks and I am pulling. Will post a pic tomorrow night.

Saw some snow flakes today. Good thing I setup a 600w hps, fan and dehumidifier in the garage yesterday. I'll pull them out when the weather is nice in the middle of the day

The cold can turn weed brown? I thought that shit was bud rot.

I managed to get some plants harvested from outside but I lost my best ones to mould. We had a bunch of days along the coast here where it was rain rain and more rain. Now it's cleared up and it's getting colder. The brown I see is definitely mould. Oh, and first time this has ever happened to me. There were mice tha ate all the way around the bases of 4 of my plants that I cut down today. Up to one foot above the ground those buggars just ate and ate. I'd say I have between 4-8 ounces between 12 outdoor plants. Not much of a yield. Lots of lessons though. Lots of lessons. Be better thought out next year though because of what I learned this time through so I'm grateful for the experience of doing it. My plants were ready around 28 September I figure. So no super early strains here for BC.

Thanks, I been hoping to get another week or two outta them but it looks as tho I may have to chop ..I woke up this morning to a layer of white frost everywhere....If I dont chop soon mold will kick in ...trics aren't quite what I wanted but better to be on the side of caution after all this time

It wasnt bud rot...but it looks at tho its a finished product. it just browned the tip off,,maybe an inch or two..but I knew that if I didnt chopo off that now dead piece it would eventually turn into rot,because it is no longer producing any fruit.I been watching the girls everyday lately..and as long as I catch it early...it didnt have time to mold up...It went to minus 3 celcius that night..I was impressed that I only had to chop a bit.I use a lot of compost and old goat/chicken bedding around the base of the plant to keep it warm at night..seems to be working.

Yeah, good idea, finish them as much as you can and process them if the buds aren't big enough. I brought mine into the garage cause I had the option and the lights to do it, had considered doing it anyway to avoid being ripped. I wouldn't bring them into my indoor grow room though, could end up a mess, not worth it. amen weather has been iffy I'm in ontario too, last week was great started to chill off now, but even still my babies are doing really well, can't really call them Babies anymore I guess. Good to hear someone one else is from around here. Happy harvest and happy smoking

Yeah last couple of weeks have been good, and as long as hard frost or snow stays away I'll leave the last one I have out. I had only left one small one outside as of 2 weeks ago, brought the larger one's into the garage to finish them. I didn't throw this little clone out until mid July and expected 1/2 oz from it, looks like she'll produce at least an ounce, and is frosting up nicely but still needs another week or two to fully mature.

looking good haven't got frost yet been close and I'm happy with that, I wanna go aslong as I can hoping for a nice yield this year nothing beats living in the country
