Anxious beginner with handfuls of questions !! Need your help !!

Well first and foremost thank you for taking the time to click my post.. Long story short I have been very interested in growing the good 'ol lettuce for quite some time now. Unfortunately due to renting small apartments for the last 3 years.. a grow op was always out of the picture. I have done tons of research over the years on different methods/ Techniques but I'm very aware that research online is no comparison to growing the plants myself. Fortunately I have just closed on my first house and I believe it is time to start growing some lovely ladies . Sorry in advance if this post becomes unorganized and I come off as rambling.. I just have so many questions due to the anticipation, I just want this to be setup right the first time.. No corners cut. I have a finished basement with 5 total rooms.. but I have 3 in the back corners which would be ideal for growing.. good ceiling height.. good temps.. good overall size.. window access etc. The dimensions of the 3 rooms where i am thinking about growing are..
1) 10X10 Bedroom
2) 10x5 storage room
3) 8x5 storage room.

I'm pretty positive that I want to go ahead and setup a Veg room and a separate flowering room so I can keep a constant supply ready. I just don't see the use in only one room and a harvest every 4 months as apposed to 2.. I believe i have more than enough space to accommodate both rooms. I guess now is when it gets to the tricky questions.. Plant quantity.. Wattage of lights.. Airflow etc.. But hopefully a couple of you can point me in the right direction. Keep in mind I am unfortunately in a state that does not allow Marijuana for Medical or Recreational use.. so growing smart is my number one priority! I also do not want to act like I know what I'm doing and jump into a 30 plant grow when I've never grown a single plant. I have been thinking about the number of plants that I feel would be a safe/adequate amount for each room and think that 4-6 in veg under a 400w and 6-8 under a 600w in the flower room would work. I know this is totally up to my personal decision but what do you guys think about the above setup light wise? Ideally I would love to get a 6-10 Oz yield every 2 months. I understand that yield is based on a TON of different factors but I believe going into this expecting .5 grams a watt is a realistic expectation. The only reason I have based it on 400 watt in veg and 600 in flower is due to the paranoia level.. I'd like to keep the max lighting watts to 1000-1200 tops. What do you guys think about a safe amount of lighting? I'm starting to think that with the above numbers that I might not being giving the girls ENOUGH light.. but I also don't want to lose out on my overall yield because I left a plant or two out. Another cool thing to know is.. If you had the above two room.. 10x5 and 8x5 right next to each other.. How would YOU set up the space..?!? With the amount of time I've spent "planning" my grow op in my head, I've changed my plan 100's of times and would just love to hear some input on what you would do for a starter room with a comparable layout.. I'm going to go ahead and close this thread.. I have tons more questions but this joint has me rambling.. Thanks for reading!! PEACE LOVE & NUGS!!!

BY THE WAY- I WILL POST PICTURES TOMORROW OF THE TWO SPACES !!

I can't read that huge wall of text but if you want perpetual you could use two rooms, or do what I do, setup a veg tent and use the corner of the bedroom to grow vertical bare bulb, wall of weed, coco hempy, kiss feeding style I use a 8x10 bedroom. Have plenty of expanding and moving space. If you decide to use two rooms, I would use room 1 for flowering and room 3 for clone and veg

hell in the 10x10 you could get a harvest every 2 weeks 4 lights 4 plants under each put the first 4 in then wait 2 weeks put the next 4 in and so on till the room is full then just rotate in new plants after the first 4 are done have fun ^^

Haha yeah... My apologies on the text wall. Thank you guys for your feedback so far. 4 lights in a 10x10 ?? What wattage?

God man that seems a bit excessive.. Cant say I wouldn't love the yield but I think it would bring a lot of attention to me.

Personally I run a 4' 8 bulb HO T5 setup for veg, I can veg easily 8 bushy plants under that. My flowering room I flower 8 plants under a 600watt on a light rail. Flowering room area is setup 4 x 4 (4 plants on one side, 4 on the other). But I also run bare bulb on a 42" (3.5 feet) umbrella style hood.

I have a 4 stage setup:

1: Clone box (A wood cabinet with a single 2' 2 bulb HO T5)
2: Growth area - 4' 4 bulb HO T5 - The clones fresh out of the clone box go here till they get about a 1' tall.
3: Veg area 4' 8 Bulb HO T5
4: Flowering room - 1 600watt bare bulb with 43" umbrella style hood on a light rail.

I run just over 1200 watts total - Not including fans. So maybe 1400 watts.

I have pushed this setup to 10 plants at times. It really just depends on what you want and how you set your room up. I flower in a 10x10 room and only use the center of the room. My veg room is about the same size, but it's really overkill on space. My electric bill is about $230 a month, so not too bad.

I have a constant flow of plants, something is always ready for harvest and there is always something ready to take it's place. Hope this helps!

i would say 2400 watt minimum

so 4 600's. they have better power ratio's anyway
Exactly what I was thinking lol. I'm not using my whole room for just flowering, but i don't got a built section either. I'm just growing in the corner without a tent vertically.. Then I got a 3x3 tent setup on the other corner for my clones and moms so I can flower the plants in the corner without light leaks. I got a 20 gallon trash can I use for a reservoir so I don't need to bring tons of gallons up the stairs I got a desk for all my nutes and shit to go on/in.. I just like to keep everything together if I wanted to expand more, I could add another 600 in the other corner and put more plants up.. Look at my journal I'm doing 10 plants vertical bare bulb kiss feeding. I got 3 (3) gallon coco hempys I got 2 (3) gallon soil I got 1 (1) gallon soil and 4 in 2 liter soda bottles

Well, a lot of people use light without consideration for cost or plant benefit. 24/7 in veg can waste your resources that should be spent in flowering. I mean just going 18/6 in veg you can jump up a bulb size or add some wattage to your flowers without huge expense. Also, use the radiant heat from the bulbs to warm the house and save on heat.

Thanks a ton jester.. that actually really helped put things into place.. I had questions about cfls etc during germ and clone stage so the info was much appreciated !

Glad I could help. I know it's a pain to envision everything in place. When I started I over complicated everything till I saw it all setup. I re-designed my setup a few times once I realized how simple it could be.
