Would it be good or bad if i used a red tube light and a blue tube light together?

Not bad, but probably useless unless they're T-5's.. Tube fluoros don't concentrate light well enough to matter.. cfl's on the other hand pack all the light together, and can just squeek by if you keep several of them really really close.. (Like an inch or 2 away from plants)

well i'm not really sure what kind of lights they are i got them from a friend who used them in a salt water fish tank.

If it is from a fish tank, (fish geek) there is a chance of them being t5's (very skinny bulb) which i have, and was woundering if that would be good enough for say 2 low ryder hybrids? i only have 2 bulbs one white the other blue.

How would i get a "red" for flowering? are you talking about the color spectrum or a total different bulb? or can any1 recomend a not so pricey light that would be good for the nyc deisel loyryder (joint dr.) and i will be growing max 2 plants at a time limited space so mom cant find it =) <---still in HIGHschool

The smallest HPS you can find.. 70-150W perhaps.. They sell them as security lights at home stores, but you should go to an electrical place like where contractors would go.. You can buy the bare kit there (ballast/bulb), and possibly a suitable reflector too..

it would be a different bulb. just a replacement tube for the fixture you have. you're gonna be looking for something in the 2500k range. with t5's, people like to keep some blue during flowering because it can reduce stretch, but you want mostly red temperature lighting to promote healthier flowering.

Normal flouro's will work JUST FINE during your veg stage. And if you want and have enough lights...you CAN flower with flouro's...gathering you get the right spectrums mixed together{5000K}....and they DON'T have to be T5's!!!!! Flouro's shortcomings are made up by being able to have the lights just inches from the plants.
Sure your yield won't be as big...but results have proven that the tricome production is actually increased then using a standard HPS.

well i think the ones i have might be t5s they're skinny tubes and ones red and ones blue. if they're both on it's really bright tho..

when you say a lower yeild per plant, say a normal yeilfor lowryder cross would be 2-3oz with t5 maby 4 two feet bulbs say blue white and closer to flower with 2 reds would that be good, and do all hps lights need to have a balast? and does it make your electricity go up that much say you had a 75 or 150watt that you would pick up at a hydro shop?
if your gonna use Flo tube lights they are only good for slow veg growth , if you want faster veg growth use the next best thing CFLs. CFLs can be used to flower with but won't give you a killer result compared to grow lights but if used right you can get a decent veg growth and flowering

I HIGHLY beg to differ...you OBVIOUSLY haven't seen my grow with flouro tubes...my buds are sorry to say but nicer then my hps buds...MUCH more trich development.
I have to say that weed that's been growen with grow lights doesn't taste as good compared to weed that's been growen with CFLs
