Anonymity while surfing

Hi, I'm a newbie here and I have already learned a ton and look forward to learning a lot more. I'm also a newbie grower. This will be my 1st grow. But I digress. The reason for this post is because while reading through newbie central the subject of anonymity came up in reference to guest posting being disabled and the lack of trust in the maintenance of anonymity when required to register. So here is my humble suggestion; I'm a far cry from an expert but you might want to try using "TOR" to maintain you anonymity. GOTO: torproject.org and download the program. It is very simple to install and it works with Mozilla Firefox. Once installed you will be surfing Anon. the only real drawback is it is a little slower than what you might be use to. Also make sure you clic on the tools menu at the top of the page, select options then select content and un-check enable java script. I hope this helps some of you. SURF SAFE

Firstly I would not suggest this for online anonymity. Firstly it looks like a virus in which this guy is spreading. But either way it is not a safe way.

To stay safe use one of two or a combination for perfect safeness
First is the ever so popular proxy server. And don't use the online ones use the connect to IP:PORT ones. Get from hidemyass.com :)
Secondly is a VPN. Virtual Private Network. Use both a proxy at the same time ans VPN and you will be safe.

Regardinglyful, Jimmy

TOR is good, but the government also use TOR so doing anything illegal with it is stupid. Your best, best bet is to infect someone with a trojan that has a proxy capability. This way you know its anonymous (there are different levels of anonymous) and you know no logs are kept (some do keep them, even if its high security). As for PHP and CGI proxy, they work but you don't know if they're set to log or not. A little birdy I knew once had the idea of stealing cookies/logging information from people who use their PHP proxy.

If you don't want to hack, a good idea is to use your own PHP/CGI proxy. Buy a website, make it somewhat popular and hide the proxy on there. But even then, the server will log who goes to what file, so they'll know you went to the proxy.

JimmyRecard, before you accuse somebody of trying to spread a virus you should do a little research on the net. You would find that TOR is an open source program use by many. I really don't appreciate you slandering me on this forum. Perhaps you may have a reason why you don't want the members to be anonymous here. Are you by any chance LEA???

Nusky, It really dose not matter who is using TOR, It uses nodes that are encrypted from start to finish of the data transaction. Node A can't read what node B has transmitted back to node C. Altho' nothing is totally safe not even the proxies you are so fond of, If The government with it's unlimited resources wants to know what or where you are surfing there is nothing you can do to stop them. They are not going to spent the resources unless they have a very good reason, and if that's the case you might as well say your farewells cause you are already on your way to meet bubba.

I've heard of ways around TOR's encryption. No encryption is 100% secure.

wtf is LEA and secondly I just gave the two easiest ans safest ways of protecting yourself instead of a open source program used by everyone and which probably has to abide by US Law meaning if requested it would have to hand over logs of everyone who has used the program. Next time read my post properly.

Nusky, You are absolutely correct, there is no such thing as 100% secure. However, a 256bit encryption is as close as you can get with current technology. It could be broken by Lea in about 10,000 years of 24/7 attack. If you are really worried about it also get True Crypt. You can then encrypt you entire disk and also have an encrypted OS in a hidden partition in addition to an OS that runs in the open. I won't go into here cause it would take to long to explain. just Google "true crypt" you might find it very interesting and informative. You might also want to run a virtual machine on your true crypt encrypted disk. That way when you shut down you leave no trace of any surfing on your host system that you would want to run in the open.

I use Tor with Vidalia. I agree with the OP. It is slow, but I like it.
