And yet another NOOB asking for advice...

Curious, how are you planning on making gummies? Are you using distillate?

I've been using @Thundercat 's method for counting days and start the timer once it shows signs of flower. Usually 10-14 days which would put you right around where you are now. IMHO there's tons of amber in those trichomes, you can take her down any time now.

Hey LG,
The gummy method I plan to do uses coconut oil infused with trim, basically the same as making cannabutter.
All the stuff has been delivered, so we are game on for this weekend.
I can post up the recipe and method if you are interested. (and if they turn out)

Thanks for your input on the chop!

Looking good Willie and nice trichome shots. I agree with LG, good amount of amber in pic 3 but I see some half clear/half cloudy in pic 4. You can probably harvest anytime, based on the effect you're going for.
I'm very interested in the Gummy Bear results. We have plenty of good canna coconut oil and my gf has serious chronic pain. I was just saying we should try to figure out a good maintenance dose in canna caps or gummies.

So I’m of the opinion that my second plant will be ready this weekend.
This is a 60-65 day strain, (I know that doesn’t mean much) I took the first plant at day 67 (to early).
Saturday would be day 77 from flip.
I can see a notable difference between then and now.
I’m asking for input...If it was yours, would you chop at 77, or wait some more???

Here's an update you all,

The second plant is no longer among the living. Started on her yesterday, got call to work of an emergency, and had to finish her today.
As mentioned, much beefier buds, I will have to wait till she's dried to get a weight comparison.

Directly before the chop:

As mentioned earlier, we wanted to see how gummy making would go.
I researched the topic a bunch, as is my way, and chose to go with infused coconut oil for the 'magic' ingredient.
Tons of info out there on everything gummy related.
A couple takeaways from the things I read:
1) Your cannabis should be decarbed prior to infusing your oil.
2) Use of Lecithin will help with the problem of the oil and water separating.
3) I chose to use the mason jar method for both the decarb and the infusion.

Otherwise just follow any recipe that suits your fancy. I opted for this one:

They are still setting up, so no report yet, but the process of making them was simple and straight forward.
We'll see...

First Grow Ever...
Be Gentle...

I didn't want to post anything about this first grow until it was complete, BUT, here we are.
Thanks go out to @Dr.Amber Trichome and @Laughing Grass for their help along the way.
The essentials:
5X5 tent
650 watts (at the wall) of LED. 200 of 3500K and 450 of 5000K
E & F system in a 2.5 X 4.5 SCROG format.
Strain is Cookies and Kush CDB, from Seedman.

I have read a lot on when to harvest, and that is well and good, but until you've done it, one still feels a bit lost.
These two plants were started from seed 110 days ago, vegged for 60 days, and have been in 12/12 for 50 days.
The breeders says 60-65 days, and I've read enough to know you can't go by that.

This is where I currently stand:

They seem to be continuing to throw out new white pistols

Especially on the buds below the main canopy.

Some closeups on the buds.
View attachment 4538968View attachment 4538969

But then I got out the digital scope. Yep, first time using one.

And all that did was confuse me...

I do not believe I am at the point of harvest.
My current thought is to wait 10 more day, that will be 60 from flip, and re-evaluate.

I post this with the hope that those with more experience that I, will be so kind as to offer their opinions as to how they feel I should proceed from here.

Just a NOOB looking for a hand, Thanks!
WillieP

Looks great Willie and thanks for posting the gummy bear recipe. Let us know how they come out and looking forward to a smoke report on the flowers.

Nice haul @WillieP What are you plans for your second run? Have you already picked out your seeds? And your gummies look amazing, how strong are they?
Hey LG

Seeds??? Lol

That pic is 9 days old.
One is a Zero THC, High CBD strain called Eden. The other is a cross of GG and a high CBD strain. I would have to look up the strain name.
The gummies turned out well. They are not strong at all, but that’s what we wanted. Used 3.5 grams in 1cup coconut oil to make approximately 160 gummies. Ballpark, 5 mg per dose.
I can take just one and feel the mildest relaxation effect, or multiple doses for a stronger effect. Happy with the outcome.

(the fudge we made is approximately twice as strong per dose)

lol Amazing! you're not messing around. Your clones look great.

Have you ever had high cbd weed before? It's something I'd like to try but I'm not sure I would be willing to make room in the garden. I like your idea of lower dose. I'm guessing my cookies are in the 100mg neighborhood going by the way they knock me out. I've been thinking of making lower dose gummies for daytime use using distillate but now you got me thinking about using coconut oil.

Great job all around

LG,
Sorry, I did not explain that very well.
Those are not clones, they are from seed.
(I was trying to be cute, that I don't have seeds, I have plants already)

The two plants I just harvested were the same strain, I just let one mature 10 days more than the other.
The strain is advertised as having 23 THC and 19 CBD. I will try to give a smoke report when the second plant is ready and I can do a side by side of both. Everything I have read on the CBD strains says that the increased levels of CBD seems to mellow the THC effects. With that in mind, when I bought seeds I tried to get a variety of ratios between the two. THC to CBD. 1 to 1, 2 to 1, 0 to 1, different levels all around. I believe I mentioned, the two strains I am trying next, one is 0 THC and 19 CBD, and the other is 7 THC and 7 CBD. I would eventually like to be able to have different strains for different purposes. Daytime, nighttime, pain relief, just a good buzz.
It's interesting that there is such a large difference in the effects of the product on a given person. My wife, who has never before been a user, requires 3 to 4 times the milligram input that I do. If I'm at 10 mgs, she needs to be at 40 mgs for the same effect. (although I must say, I was never a good pothead in my younger days. LOL)
So far I have made cannabutter and the canna coconut oil, and both have worked well. I would like to try the distillate extraction as well at some point. I've not been a smoker, nicotine or otherwise for years and years, so the desire to inhale huge clouds really isn't there for me. I do have a dry herb vape pen that seems to do a nice job. I think the edible route is more to my liking. Time will tell.

Hi all,
I think it would be a good choice to start a thread in the Grow Journal section. I didn't want to just leave those of you that have been following this thread hanging, so I will post a link to it when I get it up and going.

Cheers,
WillieP
