My girl (Jack Herer from Black scull seeds) is coming to the end now and the smell is lacking a lot from what I expected. Huge buds with a fuck ton of trichomes but no real smell unless I squeeze a bud or rub a stalk.

No crazy temps (26c at absolute peak) nor humidity.

What is the best way to harvest her to bring out the turps? I’m thinking of a dry trim over 10-14 days and then curing for as long as possible.

My limited experience with Jack Herer as a strain ( strictly from a smoker's POV, I've never grown it) is that it's not very terpy, not a lot of odor to be had there. Could just be that?

Overfeeding IMO can also cause buds to be a bit bland, but at a glance your plant doesn't look overfed?

I just think you're growing a "stealthy" version of something? A while back, i grew some Archive strains that were similar; low odor during the grow but the final buds were VERY fragrant and tasty.

According to the seed bank, this particular strain apparently smells strongly.

It does smell though not strongly and not as I’d imagined. There are two different notes to the plant, at a distance it’s mild earthy, woody and musky smell but when you squeeze a bud you get a nice hit of haze/chemical.

I suppose there isn’t much I can do now being so close to chop so was looking for advice for maximising the haze/chemical aroma while drying and curing.

Triches look kinda clear to me. Also heavy trich formation doesn’t equal potency. Some strains reek , some when they cure.
Even your lighting can volatilize terps. Take “ breeder “ descriptions / lineage / yield claims etc. with a grain of salt.

Adding UV can make your buds more resinous and terpy.

They are some nice chunky flowers - remember to keep the trim !

Jack Herer is one of the old school strains that doesn't smell much if you dont have a very dialed in environment. That was what it was bred for back i the day. Being stealth. Adding some Epsom salt and organic sulfurs like low dose fish emulsion helps to bring out flavour.
