An inherited mother plant, help me take care of it

So all last week my pot dealer kept calling me, bothering me to leave work early and all this stuff, not telling me why he wanted to see me. Finally I have a little bit of time to meet late on the night of Chanukah for my girlfriends family, as well as her birthday. He continues to call me until I tell him I'll drop by late. I get there to pick him up and he tells me he has a 3 year old mother plant of this amazing strain I get called Great White Shark (I would say this stuff is better than most kush I get). The bucket is over 30 pounds for this thing and I live in a 3 story apartment building, so I have to basically take this thing home with me and drag it up on my own at 1:30 in the morning. He also gave me a smaller plant of blueberry kush in a small coffee can the size of a paint can. Now I'm just trying to figure out how to take care of these things, I am leaving on a x-mas break and my friend will be taking care of them but I am not accustom to soil as well and don't quite know how much water I should give these etc... I'm venturing to guess that I basically just need to keep the soil wet for both of them.

Now lies my next problem which is getting the small plant eventually out of the can. It has ridges on the top and I know it cant get much bigger until I transplant it into something bigger. Whats the procedure here for this, anyone had to transplant out of a can before? How can I get into this thing without breaking the soil or the roots up? I wish the grower had just put them in disposable buckets so I could easily transplant but its not the case here... I'll be posting pictures later today when I get away from work for a bit! Any suggestions help!

i'd call your dealer up and ask him how often and how much he watered. cannabis likes wet dry cycles, constant soil moisture causes root rot and root stunting.so your gonna keep them as mothers or are you planning on flowering them? id try to find a tin snips or something that can cut through metal and then just carefully cut that top part away, then you just gotta tip the pot over and tap it(you might want to have your friend who's gonna babysit them for you help) and your good to go

Keeping both of these as mother plants, I'm getting one more darkroom from secret Jardin to fit the gigantic great white mother something like 2x2 wide by 4.5 feet tall, since the one I have is too small. I'm fitting the blueberry kush into a super small darkroom grow tent I have thats about 1.5x1.5 feet wide and about 4 feet tall. Both tents go inside my 4.5x4.5 (wide) 7 foot tall main tent. The two small tents are going to sit at the back and I'm going to keep constant LED UFO's on the two mothers to keep them alive in the small tents, and also to reduce heat since this is a big issue for me when I use powerful lamps. Gonna get some cloning equipment and stick with my hydro stuff for cloning, re-building a couple of my containers to do a bubbleponics hydro cloning set-up.
