America: Where did it go wrong?

When America was first colonized, the idea was simple: to establish a civilization in which every man was entitled to speak, express, and practice his or her own beliefs, moral or religious, without prejudice from anybody. Now you would think that this is so fundamentally simple, and possible, but as history and the present show over and over again, it all raises the old question: can’t we all just get along?

The answer, quite simply , is no. Because you CANT PLEASE EVERYBODY. It’s a fact, and ALL of us have seen that said fact proven over and over throughout our whole lives. No matter how nice of a person you try/can be, theres always some asshole that’s gonna shit on you for SOMETHING, no matter how petty it may be (and it usually is). That’s not a judgement either…its just how the world works.

Isn’t it obvious that by establishing a colony and sayin “okay, anybody and everybody that wants to can get up in this bitch, say what you want, do what you want” that you’re gonna get nothing but bad results? We are all different, with differing voices and opinions…so sooner or later (usually sooner) your going to get contradicting ideas, which lead to a segregation of the masses, which TOTALLY defeats the purpose of establishing a new colony/country to begin with!

So the presidential campaigns put the people on either side of the fences: is gay ok or not ok, is abortion ok or not ok…personal choices that everyone is entitled to, which shouldn’t even BE topics or major issues, but are still yet used to drive the country apart when we should be consolidating…hence, the UNITED states.

Now its just a giant, gumbo clusterfuck pile of mixed opinions, hate, crime, and crooked politics. You almost have to just fuck people over to make it livin here. So really, what I want to know is, where and when did it all go wrong? When did this place go from a boomin established and organized country steamin ahead of everyone else, to the shitty, lazy cesspool that is pretty much is for the most part today? Were we too soft on everyone, by givin out hand-outs to pretty much anybody that wants them? Was it putting our noses in all the other countries business by trying to help others before fixin shit here at home? I’d love to hear everyones ideas.

it was Nixons fault for taking the dollar value off the gold exchange and not valuing it as currency just as paper which caused the dollar value to fluctuate therefore making our national debt larger and more turbulent. Plus the fact that every one is suing when their feelings get hurt....it will be longer than you and I are alive to see this thing turned around...maybe our kids will see the beginning of the new America

I feel your frustration and share it as I think most Americans do. It's hard to say we started going wrong at precisely point X or Y. I think we've been off course for a very long time and are finally feeling the effect of it. Our politicans have failed us and we are in big trouble. Our government is trying to do too much and anything that becomes too large eventually collapses. It's tricky though because you're exactly right, there are too many people all with differing viewpoints. You're never gonna satisfy all of them. You've got people who want absolutely no govt. all the way up to folks who think the govt. should provide for our every need and keep us all equal. This is still a great nation and we can fix it but it's not going to happen over night and we have to start becoming involved in some way. :peace:

I think it was a lack of planning of past generations lol...i mean now, we know the world, theres nowhere else we CAN go to start fresh. Change has to start from the outside in, but I just dont see why people dont see that...that, or even more just don't care! Like the big stink over the mosque near ground zero, then the pastor in florida wantin to burn the koran...anymore, there is no real right or wrong answer in big current issues (unless of course you're BP LOL) so how do you meet in the middle?

i believe that when we adopted the smallest things like "its okay u lost kids, lets go get some pizza" and like jesus of cannabis said about "everyone is suing when there feelings get hurt" that are destroying our principles.....

Yea it also doesnt help that the government constantly spends more money that they have. As for the personal freedoms, this country has gone to hell. Simple rights such as freedom of speech and right to bear arms have pretty much disappeared. Now freedom of speech is only okay as long as it doesnt piss someone off that is in power. The bill of rights also clearly lays out that we have the right to bear arms, but they make it almost impossible with licenses and where you can carry it that that right is simply being lost slowly. I guess the persuit of happyness only applies to what politicians see as happyness.

Now I need to go toke a bowl to calm my nerves after that rant.

Where did America go wrong? It's still the most powerful country in the world, seems fine to me. Every country has its problems, America isnt perfect. (I'm not super ignorant lol...I'm sure my view will change when I get older..I'm still just a young dude not giving a fuck about anything while I still can :D)
lol! Enjoy it. It doesn't last forever my friend.;-)

Oh I completely agree that we are still the most powerful country, and I would die to protect this country. But I also see certain things happening in this country that I do not like and would love to see go back to the old constitutional ways. Too many laws have been passed that although they seem good for a group of people, they end up encroaching on other's rights. I really wish that individual people had the choice on controvercial topics and they live by what they decide, not having it go to congress and people following what they decide. Then people should also just be okay with other people's decision, if you dont like it talk to them like civilized people and if that doesnt work agree to disagree and go your seperate ways. Thats how it should be in the perfect eutopia I can see in my mind.

america has had conflicting views since its inception. every time you try to do better, you just cause more division. you can't point at any one time in history and say "this is it". you have many mitigating factors that add up to the downfall of all great nations. i can only hope when we do fall we are able to stave off other foreign occupation. get your guns ready.

well the natives say around 1492..... but in the conventional modern non nat am view id say around 1887 when corporations were deemed persons and deserving of rights, THAT slippery sloppe has lead to all kinds of bs the Supreme court decision of unfettered campaign contributions being the latest of a loooong line if orwellian garbage. OUR country is systematically destroyed and I contend with confidence that it is the same folks in charge our ancestors fled from in Eroupe and else where the SAME ruling class trans nationalist bs. I could go on for hours on stuff like this because i am rather well informed - you would be surprised trust me- on matters you dont even know about and for sure our country is about gone. oh and btw the last batch of gold outta fort know sent to europe faile a standard test given to shipments of bulk gold - it turned out to be tungsten with a light coating of gold over it. Ron Paul (dont even like him really) tried for an audit of the gold reserve. SHOT DOWN. Just like the demand for the FED RESERVE to be Audited, stiff armed.... try thinking like this...look at the globe and see all the borders disapear...its just people and land.... that is what the powers that be see and want and basically have... next is the total devaluation of the dollar and in a few weeks they will have that too.
