amber pistils on bud only 5 weeks into flowering

Hey guys I think I have a problem but I'm not totally sure. The plant I have goin is about 5 weeks into flowering and the buds seem to have stopped growing almost and majority of pistils have changed to amber. Is this a aproblem or is it just somehing that certain strains do. If you could help me out it would be appreciated. Thanks guys

love to hear an answer as I'm in same boat...4-5 wks from done and many pistils are amber.

Was there any kind of heat stress?

Pistil's don't turn "Amber" Trichomes turn "Amber"....hairs are different than trichomes.

Trichomes signify Ripeness..

the hairs color doesnt really matter as an indicator for harvest, its the trichomes that do. It may be a sign your plant got pollinated though, if the hairs start to recede into the caylxes and they start swelling you may have a hermie on your hands, or maybe not. but i'd still be safe and go over every plant very closely.

Mine are six week in with Amber pistles my bud production has slowed down also there is still new White pistles on the tops of the buds but just seems slow as it was rapid 2 weeks ago.
Have u got high heat?

yeah def need pictures, knowing the genetics would help you out too....but if i had to say, its possible that you overfed a little too much and have actually "burned" the *pistilates. Since as mentioned, Hairs don't turn brown, trichomes do, the hairs could be picking up a hue due to do overfeeding, how do the leaves look? Are the tips yellow or curling down?
good luck

IDK Im ending my fifth week tomorrow and one of my phenos has a lot of orange hairs already too. I do have high temps occasionally in the upper 80s but usually not too bad I don't think. Anyways, I'm pretty sure it's not overfertilized never really showed any signs of it when other did she takes nutes like a champ. I think she's gonna be a early harvester the trichs are filling out already and the other pheno I got is still white hairs and will take longer. Do check the trichs though.

This is what I was thinking...

You could have a true 60 day strain though. Those hairs darken as they mature. To have 90% red hairs at day 60 my guess is they should start changin color by week 5 or so.

As far as a hermie...I've had this problem. They darken, then get week and pull out very easily.

Keep an eye on her.

I don't think I over fertilized. I was scared of over feeding so I've been using only about 60% strength of the ferts. As for it being a hermaphrodite I don't think so. I never saw any male growth on the plant whatsoever. Unless the male produced itself inside the actual bud after the bud becan to grow. I'm at work all day so tonight when I get home ill post a few pictures. Thanks for all the help so far

Well, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I'd have to say that you have a hermie somewhere, and have been pollinated. I just went through the same exact thing, and am still totally bummed out about it. They did exactly as you described, looking beautiful, filling out nice, then it stopped and the pistils turned brown. After a couple days, I could see some of the calyxes splitting down the sides(a tiny crack), so I opened one up and saw tiny seeds starting to form. The plants quit producing trichs, and put all their effort into producing seeds, and ruined everything. I never did find the hermie either, which sucks because there's 3 different strains and i don't know which one to eliminate. So, I'm eliminating them all and starting over. That sucks, so i hope that isn't your problem, but it sure sounds like it. Bummer man. :)

yeah, thats the worst when the inner densest bud growth puts out a few male flowers on you, if you dont catch them early they are nearly impossible to find sometimes, even the smallest little bud leaf could have a sack of bananas hiding under it and fuck up everything, I'm not saying this is what happened for sure or anything but like jaw said you've basically described the way it happens alot of the time. I hope we are both wrong, I really do.keep your eyes peeled for any seed production, if it is a hermie they should become quite apparent within a week or 2. youve basically ruled out any other conditions that I can think of that would account for this. hopefully you dont see any seeds and it is just an early finisher.
