I AM CURRENTLY BUYING EQUIPMENT TO SET UP ON MY OWN GROW IN MY LOFT. I HAVE GOT A 400WATT HPS LIGHT, IS THAT ADEQUATE?
I NEED INFO ON WHAT OTHER EQUIP TO BUY. COULD ANY EXPERIENCED GROWERS HELP A NEWBIE OUT?bongsmilie

build a box , buy a tent and install a intake fan. also install a outtake fan with a carbon filter but make sure the fan is slightly stronger than the intake. maybe use a metal halide for flowering, cannabis prefers a blue spectrum in veg mode. thats some of it im sure someone else on here will patch me up.

In veg I like to use the cfls. I just put my girl in flower and turned on a 150hps a week ago for flower so a 400w for a plant or 4 is fin.. I do agree you should build a box or buy a tent/you could also use a closet and as for air, in a small space air is good to help with heat but in a closet with cfls just opening the door a time or two in each day would be fin for venting it..I would do some reading on the forums befor you go putting ur seeds in water just my 2 cents:)

Your going to need these few thing too.

.Osolating fans

.pots to grow in. from small to large.

.timers

.nutrition < very importent to ghet a good brand, i use CANNA products.

.Ph testers

.ph up

.ph down

.gaffa tape < lots of it too

.water container for mixing your feed into. say a 30 liter tank at least.

.flexible ducting

.extension cables

.wire clips and cable ties.

.hook's for hanging your light's

.chains or rope for hanging your light's.

. EC reader

. Air stoner for your water.

Most of all DO YOUR RESEARCH RESEARCH RESEARCH...

whatever you spend you will get back and more from your first grow if you do it right.

400 w hps will do good but I agree with a cfl/floros veg for a month or so. I use a closet for vegging and move to a larger room for flower.
Ventilation is always good, and keeping temps regulated is important also. Walmart sells a small indoor humidty/temp gauge ...7-8 bucks that records highs/lows....great investment. Overwatering is a no-no.....
Good luck, with a little care, you'll be smoking your own grow soon....

if you are keeping the plant count low may I suggest dwc. It is great for growing trees. Get some bushes. Learn to clone on the side.

Use a cooltube. One day plan on running bottled co2. Helps with heat as you can grow hotter and grow more.


Get a nice airpump.

Use a 100 dollar inline fan on ebay. 6 incher.

Insulate well with soundboard first and mylar. Sound is a bitch.


Dont use all caps mad scientist. Lot of jokers about to wake up. lol.


Get a charcoal filter. Smell is bad. Ona works well for a while.
