I have been using miracle grow potting soil and pete moss. The enviroment for the plants is perfect and im using the feeding schedule for my nutrients but am having problems with airy buds and low yields. Could the soil be the problem? Ive read something about foxfarms soil but dont know if you have to add anything to the soil. I have ordered new seed thinking that might be the problem but i dont want to mess up my next grow since i paid and have to wait fo these new seeds, any advice that i can get on the subject would be greatly appreciated.:wall::fire:

MG soil does have a bit of a higher learning curve but lots of great plants have been grown in it, you say your eviroment is perfect but I'd bet it's not because having everything properly dialed in is the key

plus it contains 'slow release' nutes too buddy. those are HARD to flush out.. not impossible.. but a pain in the ass.

i personally stay away from MG soils. You might be able to get a brand called 'Sunshine'. It's really good soil and doesn't contain any premixed 'slow release nutes'. I use it all the time.. but I have to get it from my local plant nursery. Lowe's and or other hardware stores don't carry it... so you may want to look into trying to get it off the internet or checking out your local plant nursery if you have one located around you.

However, there are people around the site that use MG and swear by it.. and that's fine.. each person has their own likes and dislikes. But I only stay away from it because of the premixed 'slow released' nutrients.

Good luck either way..
peace.

Not having a bright enough light or not having the lights close enough could cause smaller yields. Your best bet for dirt is to make your own. Fox Farms works great if you do not want to have to worry about nutes during the vegging stage & it is a lot easier than making your own dirt. From what I've read & from personal experience with MG a lot of people have problems with it. It is more for the advance grower in my opinion. When I grew with MG I had the same problem with a smaller yield, but I also wasn't using the advanced nutes that I'm using now.

Good luck.

Peace out

You don't have to add anything to Fox Farm soil if you don't want. It's already a decent mix. I like the Fox Farm Ocean Forest (you'll see it often referred to as FFOF) mixed with some Fox Farm Light Warrior. I do 2 parts FFOF to 1 part LW, but you can do 50/50 or whatever works for you. Give it a shot for your next grow. You'll like it.

Also, search this forum for Subcool's super soil mix for more soil information.

Yep, I've been using FF for my last couple of grows and I love it. I mix the FFOF with a little bit of perlite which has been working awesome.

As soon as winter is over I will be mixing my own dirt to save some $ & I've heard from many advanced growers this is the way to go. Subcool does have a really good thread for this also as already mentioned :)

Peace out
