Am I too late?

I am getting a late start for growing outdoors - I have a medical card so not so much worry in terms of outdoor growing, but I know I should have had seeds started long before now. I thought I would start them indoors under HID at 14 hours light (more females) for 4-6 weeks, then put them outdoors. If I did this, would I get delayed flowering, or just much smaller yields? I am trying to figure out what varieties work best for what pain, so the goal isn't quantity, but variety. I grew enough inside this winter and spring to have plenty (was blown away by the yield in a small space), but not sure it's the best for medical. What I like in a high (up) and what is most useful for medical (down) don't match well. I hear the cannabidiol content is what is good for medical use, so I am trying Himalayan Gold which has a CBD content of 1.4% but still has some up high. But I also have other varieties to try outdoors. I already bought them, they are fresh seed, so I am going to use them, and I don't have space indoors. I guess I want someone to tell me that I will get something even though the yield is reduced. I can put them in big pots and stick them in the greenhouse if delayed blooming is going to be the issue. But I would think the daylength bit would mean simply that they would start blooming around the same time but have a lot smaller yield.

So can I get something?
Is starting them inside a good idea?
Is my idea of a light cycle okay? - (they would move from about 14 hrs to 16 hrs so they would have a little bit of push forward, but maybe that's not a good idea - anyone know?)
Will I get delayed flowering or just lower yield?
Can someone tell me these things?

Thanks!

wot do u mean by '14 hours light (more females)'? due to my knowledge 14 hours of light will not get you more females or be sufficient for veg growth. 18 or 24 hrs light on veg

The 14 hours or less light thing is from Jorge Cervantes big book Marijuana Horticulture and the info came from Henk, the owner of Dutch Passion seeds. But that doesn't make it gospel. If someone else knows details on this, I would like to hear about it. This referred from what I can tell to the early seedling life. Would love to hear different information based on experience.

Well, I believe since you are getting a late start you should opt for the 24 hour lighting in the seedling stage. This will promote rapid vegging growth, as it is like cramming 4 weeks into 2 weeks. Then you can chuck your plants outside and they should grow enough to produce a decent size plant, not as big as if you started earlier, but you still be able to capture some bud. Yet if it might be a bit too late if you want a CBD content, for the frost might come before your hairs convert to that high content brown colour you want.

Thanks, RadioKills, I like the 24 hour thing - makes sense to me to get the extra veg - I tend to take Cervantes book like the Bible, but ... We often don't get frost until November or close to it here. What are the details about CBD content - it develops last, so to speak? I was able to take my indoor orange bud to amber trichomes, but it did take a long time. So I am thinking I had better do them in big pots so I can put them into the greenhouse (heated a bit) to finish. I am going to go for it, though, and will report in just in case anyone is interested.

Sounds good, the THC starts to convert into CBD when the trichomes turn amber brown, and that appears to be what you are looking for. Since you have a greenhouse you will have no problem starting late because you have a place to further grow them for optimum satisfaction. The Himilayan Gold strain you chose has a high content of CBD and you should be able to grow what your looking for if you don't get too impatiant :)

get indica seeds if you want a good body relaxation and get some pure sativa if u want your head to expand like a balloon :) i would grow and flower inside if you can then you can flower in early winter so they get a full growth cycle...
