am i doing this right?

built a veg room and a flower room

veg room consist of 1 600w mh

so my electric company charges 8cent per kw,, so i do .08 x.6kw x18 x 30 = 25.92

itll cost me basically 26$ a month to run a 600w MH bulb at 18hrs a day 30 days a month??

flower room is 1800 watts so .08 x 1.8kw x 12 x 30 = 51.84

Dont forget to factor in the other equipment. My inline fans draw over 200 watts each. Easily.

I wish that was my case. 2600w and fans, AC, dehumidifier, 6 T5, I'm around $800 a mounth. But that's also my house use but that was under 200 befor I started growing.

im under 100$ for 2400 watts.. u said your using 2600.. and your at 800??

what size fans are you using?

ill be using 6" inline duct fans.. then have regular fans in grow room

I don't get it ether. But there is 1 way to find out. Just be ready for a bill. But if grow goes well it pays for it's self.

Ok fid some research for you. This is what I found in my books. This is for a 600w light this is for each light.

You said it's .08 so that's what I took a pic of.

Your 600w MH uses more than 600w because that's just the bulb. Tack another 10% on for the ballast. So more like 660w but the best way would be to check it with a kill-a-watt meter.

As far as final cost, it depends what your power co charges per Kw/h. It varies greatly depending on where you live.

That's based on a 30 day mounth. And there is a difference in ballests so this is just a basic idea. And I'm in Cali do using the list kt420 posted you can see the difference now.

ok i was doing 8 cents not 14.. so i was estimating wrong.. but still lets say 600 watt uses 660.

thats .14 x 1.98 x 12 x 30 = 99.72 for flower room

.14 x .6 x 18 x 30 = 45.36 veg room

and lets say to run the AC / dehumidifier / fans / humidifier an extra 50$ a month at MOST..

that leaves us at 195 roughly.


at 195 a month thats 600 $ every harvest... at 12 plants flowering under 1800watt im sure it will do more then pay the bill

rough estimate is you need to produce 3 to 4 zips per harvest just to cover your electric cost.

yea but under 1800 watts with proper nutes etc.. shouldnt i be able ot get that per plant?

You will get it easy. I profit 4k after bills and nutes.

yea i just ordered from attitude seedbank i grabbed some LSD / Red Dragon / Blue Mammoth seeds.

im using the full foxfarm line, and growing in 3 gallon smart pots.. im hoping this will produce atleast 3-4 dry ozs per plant

yes you should be able to do that.

I would say 2-5 zips each and some might not make it. It's a fact of growing. Shit happens. I just lost 1 of my glowering girls and 3 of my veg. I was in a accident so couldn't get home for a week. And my outdoor got wiped out by elk. But trying to save 5 of them now. But best of luck man.

the thing with me tho is i have a partner, so if i cant make it he can. so we shud work this out pretty good. im hoping to get way more then 2 honestly.. becuzii was gettin 1 1/2 oz per plant under just a 600.. lol

I hope your partner is better then mine. Wish I could get rid of her but the room is in her house. And I live rent free. Outdoor was going to get me a house and my own room do I could get out of this partnership. Guess I'm stuck another year.
