Aluminum foil?

Can some people post up some pics of the plants they have grown while aluminum foil lined the walls? I personally would never use the stuff outside of the kitchen but some people swear by using it. What are your thoughts? Any bad experiences? Thanks everyone

foil creates hot spots and basically cooks tha plant its a heat conducter so never use foil use mylar or paint walls white..

My current grow cabinet was lined with foil when I first started. It was an improvement over dark brown wood, however my temperatures went up way too high so I switched to using flat white poster board I had laying around. Right away there was a very big improvement in temperatures and in reflected luminosity. I don't remember what my light meter said, but I might as well have doubled the amount of lights I had in there. Later, I bought some mylar and saw a tiny improvement in luminosity over the white poster board, probably because I could wipe it clean.

Despite the fact that some people claim "hot spots" with foil, it workd just fine as long as you use the diffused side (as someone already pointed out. Mylar is okay, but hard to work with, as it clouds easily and gets dirty fast. If you use mylar, you pretty much need to clean the shit out of it between every grow, which is a pain in the ass cause it streaks too.

I recently took a grow class with Ed Rosenthal, and he turned me on to Omniflect. I haven't used anything else since then, the stuff is so great. It is durable and easy to work with, has no maintainence, never clouds, no hot spots, etc. Many online grow shops have it, its not hard to find, and is comparable in price to mylar.

Good luck!

I saw that omniflect stuff on htgsupply.com and was very interested in using it. I use mylar now and it really is a pain in the ass to hang. You say that the omniflect stuff is easy to work with?

It is VERY easy to work with. It is sturdy and heavy duty, and doesn't tear or run at all.

am trying foil lining in cardbord box, it has one 3ft T5 florescent light fixture with two bulbs, i also made some little air holes in the top of the box and cut a small square hole for exhaust, there is a 3inch fan for air and so far my little babies are loving it, i am using the shiny side of the foil. if you vent the box properly it should work just fine, the air that is being exhausted is not hot so which means that temp. is not overwelming.
