Hi, Regarding decarb in the oven, on a sheet of aluminum, 1/4" layer of ground erb on a baking pan covered by another sheet of aluminum foil and sealed tightly, baked at 220°F for 1 hour.

COOL?

Thanks

PS Does it have to get brown?

I'm at 70 minutes at 220 and it still is greenish. So much different information, my book says don't go higher than 200 degrees.

I think the key to it curing is the smell? Maybe when it stop smelling green and smells more cooked?

Is this dried and cured herb or freshly cut?
You should always start with properly dried and cured herb (at least dried), whether it's trim or bud. Then follow what Maurice said. (Mostly) Sealed @250 for 27 min.

If you want to de-carb it for an hour I would say about 230°

Thanks. Dried, cured & ground bud.

I use 3/4 oz. bud / 4 sticks of clarified unsalted butter. (I figure, I'd rather have a little extra fat to bond to).

So, if 3/4 oz. of bud is effective. How much sugar leaf does it take? 20 pounds? lol - but seriously, I always thought trim/sugar leaf doesn't have hardly any THC.

It totally depends on the Sugar Leaf. My last Harvest the sugar leaves had almost no trichomes on them. Here's a picture of the cola I chopped yesterday. Can you see all the frosting on the sugar leaves? When I wet trimmed it, even some of the fan leaves had trichomes on them.

Nice one! I can see the frosting, lots of it. I won't be throwing those precious trichomes away in the future.

Have you ever tried drinking the water? It kind of looks like a spinach smoothie LOL

On a second look, it looks more like murky swamp water.

I'm extremely confused on decarbing temps & times. I've read SO many different things, and don't want to cook it too long. One thing I read was lower temps/longer times....and, also read a little longer to get CBD's to come out....but... The last time, I read an article about boiling bag at 212 degrees & 100 minutes (or equivalent in oven). I tried that, and don't know if it worked better than the first way I did it with it higher and shorter.
I'm just about to put another batch in the oven and don't want to ruin it. So, I'm going to try the one with the chart....250 for 27 minutes, and hope that will do.
Any more input will help, especially on the CBD issue, as I'm doing this for pain (and nausea, which it will do anyway).
thanks.

That boiling bag sounds like a great idea. If it can handle the 250 heat I would suggest doing it in the boiling bag or a turkey bag at 250 for 27 minutes. I usually just use a glass pan and cover it tightly with tin foil. Make sure you let it cool before opening.

When I want CBDs for my wife, I choose a CBD strain and harvest late in the Harvest window.
