alternative to hydroton rocks?

One of my biggest problems right now is I can't find hydroton rocks nowhere near where I live. Is there some other medium I can use besides those rocks?

Styrofoam popcorn peanuts, they might not be biodegradable but they can be recycled to grow marijuana!

i just recently took some lava rocks from my neighbors yard for this same problem.. works like a charm plus it looks cool

Why not just order a bag of hydroton online? It is cheap and is known to work great
